Default Type R Turbo??

Yo, i am posting this for my friend !! plz help him out !!
He has a STOCK type R right now ! He is thinking of going turbo !! I need as much info as possible for him !!
He wants to run around 8 to 10 psi ! I want to know how much psi can a stock type R engine handle SAFELY?
coz if he is going into engine internals, it will cost him alot !
which brand has a good kit for around 10 psi?? HKS?? greddy??
if he is running 10 psi, he will also need a intercooler, right???

actually, i will leave it for you guys ! Please list all the stuff he needs to run around 10 psi safely, thank you very much !!!

None 10 psi will last so long even with good tuning and to run that he would need hondata blah blh meaning more $$ than I am sure he wants to spend.. Stick to 6.5 or 7 psi from a drag or rev hard kit..and yeah do a search on this..you will yield all the results and then some that you need to answer your question. Peace

here is advice for you.. if he wants to turbo an R.. and doesnt want to spend money on it dont even bother.. it aint cheap to begin with.. just the turbo kit alone with install, few basic gadgets that are a must to run a turbo and say a clutch will easily run you like 5K... obd1 conversion, then hondata, etc.. etc.. not even worth boosting on stock bottom end, it will give out in like 15-20K miles tops.. or if your bud gets little boost happy he might blow it in a week.. so to save him trouble he better go ballz out or dont do it at all.. thats my rule.. do it right the first time.. i'm not telling you to go build a drag car or anything.. just take every step so that there is no need to go back and fix it later.

stock DRAG III kit for stock engine (7psi), there is a groupbuy from importparts.com, all parts are listed (intercooler, etc.).

10 psi is not possible with compression ratio of 10.6:1.

just get an inline pro head gasket and boost with the stock drag 3 at 10psi with some 310cc injectors and a v-afc and he will be ok

VAFC................here you go. Forget the piggybacks and do it right 1st time. Spend money on a standalone and throw some 440cc injectors in. Since the head is lifted for the headgasket spend little more money and get instead pistons.

I thought he said he wanted to do it cheaply..........I agree with the headgasket idea, if you not going to do pistons get a headgasket from Inline Pro they are the best.

even with the headgaske it will blow eventually.. he will get boost happy for sure and go over 8lbs.. once.. twice.. maybe even more.. and one day on the way to work while boosting you'll she crap load of smoke in the rearview mirror and engine will idle like crapola.. then you know its over lol..

anyhow.. i suggest your friend should just wait.. gather his money, plan his buildup accordingly.. use all the right parts.. dont buy anything you will not need or regret buying.. talk to someone thats had dealt with this before see what the suggest.. then if you have the cash do it.. otherwise you'll be fixing problems on daily basis..

Yo, thanks for the info again !!
Let's say he is getting the drag kit for 7 psi, and that's how much he runs !
is this good for stock engine?? is the engine going to last long with 7 psi??
will he need to any other stuff other than the turbo kit??
how much will it approximately cost for him to run 7 psi?? thanks alot!
he is a rich guy, money is not a big problem, but he doesn't want to touch the internals, but he wants his car to run efficently and safely.
so let me know
thanks alot !! u guys are cool !!

hondata + some dyno time will make his car run a looong time on 7psi, assuming he takes it easy every now and then

if he got the money why not simply get a drag kit, hondata, clutch, all the electronics he will need... keep the stock headgasket.. and get only pistons and rods.. i'm sure his motor is fairly new and will not need to be honed or re done.. cause thats too much down time anyways.. pistons/rods with install should run him no more then 1500 on top of the turbo kit and it will be a great investment in the long run.. then he can run 10lbs easy when tuned propertly with hondata.. maybe even more.. (dont forget big injectors) bigger DP and exhaust would always be a plus.. my rough estimate for you bud after he's all done with the above will reach 7-8K. But it should be reliable yet haul some serious ***..
