Which type of oil should I use???
Okay I know this is a dumb question. I've always been using 5W-30 Royal Purple Synthetic Oil. (That's stuff's the shiet!!!) But now that I got a turbo, should I use the same weight??? I hear lots of different stories from different people like synthetic is ok and not ok, or use 10W30 or 5W30. Which one should I use and why?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I was told by someone pretty reputible (one of the head mechanics at one of the top shops in NYC) to use regular oil, because sythetic breaks down to quick. Is this bull, or does it have some merit behind it?
I personally use Valvoline Dura-blend, it's a mix of synthetic and conventional oil. There is some website somewhere that has a listing of all the specs of various oils (viscosity, flash point, ash content, resistance to sludging, etc...) and durablend was only bested by one other oil that was not being made any more...

yea I am really confused now I get a lot of different opinion on synthetic or regualar stuff.
yup it was explained to me that synth "thins out" higher hp but safer to use thick non synth oil.
in the summer use 20 50
winter 10 30
mobil1 20 50 synth will be good all around use and the 20 50 is what drag recommends too

Heh, have you ever seen the little silver plaque on the motor itself Randy? You can see it when the wing is in the "up"' position on the Carrera's, it says in German to use Only Mobil 1, that says alot!
I haven't seen it, but I understand why the use it. Less coking, better heat resistance, lower coeff of friction.
All good stuff.
