Default Turning to the Evil Side...

Well the time has come, i want some mad chirp on 3rd yO! lol
I been reading up on FI lately, trying to see whats good block to boost with a B16 head. I wanted to ask what you guys think about it being on a B18C1 built block? It's going to be daily driven in Cali. I'm not trying to break the world record here, so i was wondering would it be worth it to sleeve the block, new pistons, forged rods, etc... or to just keep it stock bottom? The most i would like to hit would be 350whp, with some good tuning. What do you guys think? build it for 350 whp, would that be an overkill? or should i just run the bottom stock? Would their be a greater chance of it blowing/not lasting as long if it wasn't built?

So many questions i got, just don't want to seem like a total retard. I did a search to see what info i can come up with. I see people running 81mm sleeves saying its best for daily driven, can anyone confirm this?

Sorry if they seem like stupid questions, but i just want some feedback from people that have good knowledge of being turbo. I guess i just dont want to overkill, by buying all this stuff if i'm not aiming at high HP.

Any help is appreciated.

That's my buildup, and it seems to be very similar to what you are interested in. 350hp is very achievable on a stock bottom end, but I don't think it would last very long. The sleeves will hold 350hp but I question the stock rods. Take a glance at my project and tell me what you think. I can try to answer any specific questions you have as well, PM if you don't want to seem like a total retard

Yea seems real nice man, but i'm thinking of running a full Greddy kit, reason being (from what i read on HT) that it's the only one thats carb legal. Specially around here, cops always popping open the hood asking to see carb stickers and what not.

I'm glad thats not a problem here on the east coast. I don't think the police would be able to distinguish an intercooler from a radiator around here.

if the cops is your main concern than yah, go greddy. but its not like your gonna be invincible, i mean cops do what they want. my suggestion is if your gonna go turbo go ***** out. i'm in socal and im going custom - hopefully i can tone down my driving habits and not attract too much attention. also, don't go cheap on fuel management - that is what usually dictates the longevity of your motor. hth

I heard that your car gets impounded these days if caught with no carb stickers...
Plus the greddy kit from what i read on here, is that if you lower the boost, it will pass smog?

Personally, I would get what your talking about done. It would help in the long run. Dont cheap out on fuel mang. and making sure your oil/water is running at correct temps. Heat is the enemy and causes problems.

i would personally build the block, because you may want 350 right now, then youll drive that for a while til the giddyness will wear off (it will probably take a while), then youll be saying to yourself..." hmm, i wonder what 400 is like" and so on, and so forth

OT:

You don't know how many times I have had my Japanese friends say: "Turbo Honda saiko!" The romanized reading of the Kanji in that sticker is "turbo saikou". The literal meaning of saikou is highest or best but translates to AWESOME or WICKED in this instance.

Not quite Dee....It reads "Turbo Saisoku" ...Saisoku means "Fastest", so I don't quite know how this would be translated into comprehendable English other than "Turbo is fastest"..anyways, that sticker was most likely made by a foreigner

And what the hell is the "evil" side...I thought we were the "dark" side!

at the rev's the car is tested on for smog i don't think you'll hit boost at all. if tuned properly your emissions should not do any worse than stock. it's usually the visuals that everybody fails @. the reason why the gsr kit is carb legal is because it has no intercooler or bov and is internally wastegated. and for CP pistons contact Earl on this board

Can someone help me out by explaining why 81mm sleeves would be best for daily driven?
From what i been reading on other threads, Earl says that an 81 mm bore would be stronger than an 84mm bore. But then some say go for the 83 mm because you can mess up, up to 3 times and still run the same block being turbo.
