Default Turbo'ed D15B7, Major Issues

I took the ride out on the town the past couple days and came across two major problems. First problem is this: When I accelerate, the car is sluggish, when I give it gas it goes but it hesitates bad. I tried to reach higher rpms to see if it would be any better but its worse.

Problem 2 is this: My spark plugs keeps turning charcoal black. I have tried gapping at 026, 028, 030, 032, and 034 but this keeps occuring. The wires, distributor, cap, and rotor are brand new. I was told that my problem is a fuel issue. I have a FPR that is fully adjustable if that matters in all this. The FPR is set at 38psi.

The car will idle on its own and fire up every time, first try. Even when I rev it up in nuetral I can here it hesitating. It sounds like a spark and fuel problem to me, but I cant figure it out.

Can you please help me out???

Is it possible that my 10.2mm wires are just too much, or would that not matter?

Do you have a wideband 02 meter or any clue at all as to what you are running air fuel ratio wise?

your also on a basemap so i would'nt expect much from it. you need to get it tuned, basemaps are only so you can drive your car to a tuner.

I hope so. I cant afford for this car not to run properly. Everything has been triple checked and I have everyhting working properly. The only thing I lack is the 255lph fuel pump and I'll have that in a few days.

Could this be the reason why I have a ticking noise (not knocking)? It sounds like the noise in coming from the injector side but I have looked for leaks many times and haven't found anything.

to test wires what you can do i 1. start the car, pop the hood. 2. while its running take one of the spark plug wires out and stick it on a bolt, if you hear it arcing than its a good wire.

I did pull the wires one by one while it was runing to see if it made a difference. Every time I pulled one, I got the same thing. It would nearly die. But I'll try the arching test. Thanks.

Tune the car, basemap is not helping your cause. Its very possible the tune is off and all it needs to be fixed is to change a few things in the engine management. That is the first place you should look.

Thanks for the input. Im going to put the 255lph fuel pump and the stage 3 clutch in and go have a tune very soon. I just hope the basemap will get me to the tuner which is almost 200 miles away.

Does anyone have any input about putting the OEM ECU back in the car to get it to a tuner?

youll need to put the oem injectors back in the car to run it on the stock ecu. as for your other problem, the car is probably running super rich due to the basemap causing the black plugs and sluggishness.

Thanks a lot man. What would happen if I ran the stock ECU with the 440cc injectors in there? Just curious, Im not going to do it if its going to damage anything.

it will foul out the plugs due to dumping too much fuel because the ecu thinks its only got 240cc injectors. it wont run for long before the plugs are too fouled to work. if the car runs ok just cruising around on the basemap then just leave it in and stay out of boost till you get to the tuner.

u said it urself in ur post..the plugs keep getting charcoal black..its obvious its running too rich..when u give it gas it dumps fuel in and the spark cant ignite all the fuel..thats y u have the misfiring..its sluggish because it begins to misfire..no ignition no power
