Default turboed 1990 acura integra backfire problem

hello, i was driving my integra today and when i had the rpms up to like 5k and let off, the car would slow down then all of a sudden a really really loud backfire happens. Everytime i let off, like 3-4 seconds later it backfires, what can cause this!? I just replaced the timing belt, i dont know if that can cause this?

What injectors? Are you tuned? Generally its because you had alot of fuel in the high vacuum areas of your tune. It's not really a bad thing though....just run open downpipe and explode some unsuspecting people's ear drums haha.

Personally I like going through Over The Rhine (in Cincinnati) at night and doing this. If you are unfamiliar with the area...basically white boys (such as myself) are a rare site down there, and it's not exactly the best of areas if you catch my drift haha.

okay i found out what it is but its embarrasing but ill tell you guys anyways. I was lookin around and my resistor box was laying up against my timing belt. there are like 30 wires, about 10 were shaven open and touching eachother. My car was dumping gas out of the headers it was so bad. I rewried them all and moved it away from the timing belt. Thanks guys!

check the ground wire thats on the thermostat housing. Check the CEL, and also, check your timing - after i tuned my car once, i changed my timing belt, started backfiring a little bit, turns out my intake cam was retarded a couple of degrees.

She runs amazing. Some stock honda pulled behind me on the highway trying to mess with me, i punched it and he did and i was watching him fade away so fast, it was awsome! She runs great!
