Turbochargers Vs Superchargers<U></U>
I've heard a lot of stuff about turbo's and superchargers, and I can decide which one is best. In your opinion with one would you prefer?

Both have advantages. I'm possibly going to try out the JRSC with some custom cooling. Turbo is cool but S/C is less seen, I wanna see if I can make good power. Linear power curve ownz.
Turbocharged setups make more power usually, but have lag and cost more. Superchargers will give some nice low end grunt and they're simplistic, but far more limited in potential versus turbo.

Also remember s/c runs off your motor via another belt. So while this is good for getting power sooner, it will put some drag on that little 4 banger.

Turbos are probably the best for making big power, but the power comes later than a s/c.

I prefer turbo to s/c simply for the power and efficiency advantage. But with newer s/c developments and the simplicity of a s/c system they can be more desirable.

from what i've seen superchargers usually cost more.

I've been looking at JRSC's for $1700-1800. When I was gonna piece my own turbo kit together (not a halfassed kit either) it would've been around $2400. I guess it's all in what you buy. I've seen some guys sell JRSC's as low as $1300-1400.

Coming from me....supercharger. I like the whistling sound and im hoping to gain a lot of power out of it with a 10lb pulley. 60hp-70hp to the wheels with a single cam non vtec.

OK it's a true fact that superchargers like displacement.
Turbos will ultimately spool up harder on a smaller block, aka given a boost controller.
I think s/c mustangs sound great and all but it's really not the best abng foir your buck in the Honda wolrd - this is just my opinion.

I will agree, but they do provide simplicity in design and installation, as well as a nice power curve.

And I would have to agree to your agreement.
I have a b16 with a built and tuned pr3 head.
I have ran 2 different 95 EXs both with d16, one with a custom turbo (I think at like 8lbs) and one with a Jackson Racing.
The jackson racing was losing ground in a constant motion while the turbo kept up from the stop and dropped out little by little, I think may even pulled in some parts of the race.

Both FI looks to be fun as hell; I am an allmotor junkie. But if I wanted a good bang for my buck with a boost gauge, it'd prolly be a turbo.

The only time turbo lag ever comes into play is when you want to pass someone really quick on the highway. Otherwise it's not an issue. If your racing your turbo is constatly spooled. If your just driving normal you don't even know it's there.

a lot of factors play into turbos, and also superhcarges. I think your un-educated in bolth fields, and cars in general, and no i don't intend to insult you. So, with this said you need to go out, look on amazon/boarders/etc and get some car books. READ THEM. look on h-t, instan msg people like me, and other members. We can educate you on everything you need to know. Remmber, this is a hobbie that relfect our own insanity for passion. It's just a matter of how much you want.

Im inclined to leave these open possibly in the future because of how much misinformation STILL gets spread about turbos vs SC's. This one really is just so general though and has already started off on the wrong foot.

SCs and Turbos have their benefits. There are tons of different types, sizes, designs, etc of turbos. Running a search can net you some basic information, then come back and ask some specific questions
