Turbocharger technical question
Suppose I have 2 turbochargers.. Both of them are Turbonetics T3/04E hybrids with different compressors. Both of them are BB:
Can I switch the compressors on these without having to rebalance the unit?

Re: Turbocharger technical question (VaporTrail)
you can switch the compressor but i still would get it balanced. Just being off a little bit on turbo that spinsover 20000 rpm is scary.

Re: Turbocharger technical question (b18bturbo)
That is kinda what I was thinking. There just isn't any convienent way to get it balanced around here. Kinda like the rest of the project. Utah sucks, the only thing that sustains itself around here is the Mormon population!
Here is a pic of what has been keeping me away for a while:
It is a shot I took during preliminary fitting tests. The car has seen alot of changes during these last several weeks. Unfortunately, I only get to play with it some evenings and weekends (the same few moments I used to get to play with you guys). There is, however, light at the end of this tunnel.

Paul: Yeah, I got a total for the Haltech... It's less than the header cost too. It might even be less than the intake manifold cost. I'll mail ya in the AM...

Re: Turbocharger technical question (B20C5 Turbo)
Hmmm... You cannot easily change the compressor wheel on a BB turbo like you can on a regular bushing. There is something about it that makes it impossible. Turbonetics has to do it. No one else can.

You called Majestic about this Viren?
They always tell me that the whole assembly has to be machined and balanced at Turbonetics. That they cannot do it there. That is why they cannot put the "bullets" on BB turbos either.

Is there somebody in Irving that works on turbos? I need to send my T3 cartridge off at the end of the week to be converted to a T3/4, and it would be nice to get another shop's price!

Re: Turbocharger technical question (4dr-gsr)
Oil? What's that?
Actually, I have gently tapped the dipstick tube out of the block, added more of a bend to it, and tapped it back in pointing to the drivers side.
