TURBO TYPE R BACK TO LIFE
So after trying to sell my Type R and getting MANY, and I mean MANY stupid offers. I decided to just keep it and build it.... But instead on molesting the Type R engine, I decided to build a B20 with another Type R head. My dilemma is hearing everyones mixed feelings lol
I got a buddy with the same set up on a daily driver doing 7.7's in the 1/8 mile @ 345hp with an Ebay Turbo and VERY simple set up with internals and stock sleeves. My car weighs around 2500 with me in it....
Type R head (stock) with Type R cams.
B20B on stock sleeves - Block Guard (some say they work, others say they are junk)
I see it as you are going into a dark alley, and I give you a cheap pistol will you tell me that you don't want it because it is not a Smith & Wesson? - Some protection is better than no protection lol
Arias 9:5:1 Pistons
Eagle Rods
Type R Crank
ARP head bolts and COMETIC head gasket....
BDL fuel Rail
RC750CC Injectors
Walbro 255 Fuel pump
Garrett GT30 turbo
all on pump gas at 15psi
Type R trans with LSD on 15" Weld Wheels on 23" Slicks....
Anyone familiar with a set up like this... What should I look forward too?
Oh yeah, stock suspension..... (taking donations for a better one lol)

Re: TURBO TYPE R BACK TO LIFE
Id say 350-400 wheel is easily achieved on 15 lbs with a GT30R, the only thing im weary about are the sleeves on a b20 block.
Id also go OEM gasket over cometic.

Re: TURBO TYPE R BACK TO LIFE
Also 23" slicks will probably be too small. With 24.5's and I 8500 redline in my hatch it is on the limiter in 4th with 430whp. On a 84mm ITR motor a friend of mine made 471whp on 17psi and pump gas with a 30R.
I am still on the motor I had in my ITR and I can say that you don't need a fuel rail but it wont hurt(Im on stock lines and rail with just AEM FPR). I would also go with 1000cc injectors and I personally like precision or even better the ID1000's.
I would also recommend a stock head gasket over a cometic and personally I would never use a B20 block unless I was sleeving it. With the ITR crank you are losing displacment anyway so why not just use a gsr or LS block and have a bit more meat on the sleeves?

find a B18A/B block and use the vtec head on that. the stock B20 will work fine but you need to have really good tuning to prevent any issues.
if you want the extra power from the 84mm bore then save up to have it re-sleeved and you will be good to go.

Re: TURBO TYPE R BACK TO LIFE
I wouldnt go more than 15 lbs because of the B20 sleeves... I daily drove my stock B20V with GT35R on a conservative E85 tune with no issues for well over a year. I pulled it early this year to put in my built motor and there wasnt anything wrong with it.

What do you mean on a conservative E85 Tune? - You mean you never raced it, or pushed it hard?

Re: TURBO TYPE R BACK TO LIFE
Don't tune for a boost presure. Decide how much power you want to make and tune it to that power. You will be out of fuel well before 500whp with those injectors so if you want to keep it on pump gas Id say tune for 350whp or so. If you want more get a race gas tune on it. On my car we tuned for 400whp on pump and went all out on race. at 14psi I did 401whp so anything my car sees past 14psi is a more agressive map for 112 octane.
A conservative tune just means he didn't get crazy with timing and kept the AF ratio richer. As far at 1/4 times I would look for you to run into 11's on the slicks but you will be having to shift to 5th or very close to it on 23's. Im guessing you will be keeping stock redline considering the block you are using or maybe less than stock redline so I would guess high to mid 11's depending on driver.

Thanks for the input.... I am tunning my car today. I am tunning on pump gas and on race fuel (Q16) we'll see where I end up on.
