Turbo type R ?

Turbo type R ?
I have a quick question for you all. I am planning on turboing my Type R. I have been reading post after post on this board. I think I have come up with what type of kit I am going to go with. The kit that I am thinking of using is one made by Full Race. I have seen allot of post where people have built there own custom kits, but I was unable to find out all of the details on the kits that they had built. I will also be using Hondata with this kit. My question is to all of you, do you think this kit is appropriate. If not do you have any other suggestions. I will also be keeping all of me internals sock and doing what some people would say doubling up on my head gaskets to lower my compression.
Please do not say, “Do your research.” Due to the fact that is what most people say.
Thanks for all of your help.

if you are so keen on getting a new headgasket i would get a cometic they are around 100 bucks, also don't forget you will need injectors. If tuned properly the car should run fine. FULL-RACE is a top notch kit.

Sorry for leaving out the injectors bit. Thinks on the tip on the headgasket.

if you plan on keeping the bottom end stock. IMO Full Race isnt worth it. you wont really use it to its efficincy. but rock on if you do , its a hot kit.

There is a turbo type r on full races website that made over 500whp. Full race is whoop ***. The only thing i dont like is that it doesnt come with fuel, but thats easy to get. You cant go wrong with full race. I have seen slightly tuned itr's run in the low to mid 12's all day on slicks. You are on the right path.

It can literally be a blast if you have an incompetent tuner...when done right, they are quick cars...

inline pro head gasket is the way to go...I have boosted 15psi for 4 months no prob on a 84k mile bottom end they drop compression a full point.

Re: Re: (MiraiZ)
dont double the gasket, ur just gunna raise the chances of blowing it, like everyone else said use one of the listed gaskets, id say inlines since it will do the job your trying to get by doubling.

save the money and just get the .43 Cometic gasket, it wont drop as much , but still drops it quite a bit and off the top of my head direct from Cometic is only $100 compared to $299 for the inline pro.

Dude.. I've always pondered this question also and deamed that it is not worth it. Pull the C5 block and buy a 1st gen B16 longblock from password for 499 and boost that thing. keep it at like 12-13 psi and if it blows like ringlands or the rod goes... thier will be minimal down time because you would just swap that expensive longblock back in and drive that until you get you 500 B16 block rebuilt.
IMHO that's what I would do if I were you.

3MM gasket, like inline pro, should lower your CR one full point...

well, I'm sure with proper tuning and management, I'll be able to turbo a typeR. I dont see many TypeR's around my area that are turboed. I'm willing to be different..... safely of course.

just go ahead and throw in some low compression forged pistons.it won't cost much more than the $300 gasket and you can do it while the head is off.

take the word of people who already have the setup...stock pistons/rods will be weakpoint...go forged!

Re: (MiraiZ)
if u wanna save some $$$ ditch the itr bloc and sell the swap to some all motor guys pick up a gsr or ls way cheaper use the extra money to have it built meaning sleeves and head work just my opinion i seen way to many people blowing itr motors just for the sake of having a turbo itr... save the motor some one will surely love to nurture it then find a gsr bottom on here that need machining ( save more money) and a ls tranny i think u could get a block and tranny for 2k at most (if its a gsr/ls that needs some love) then u got about 2k-3k from selling your motor to put into building and engine management...thats what im doing wasted all kind of money on an itr(for the sake of having it) and decided to sell it and that is funding most of my ls build
hope this helps
