Default Turbo Timing? What do i do?

well my turbos in, but im getting a little noise from the valves is sounds like, what should i retard the timing to? im using just the greddy turbo kit for 92-95 civic on my 97 civic coupe(y7y8hybrid), its got the stock wastegate so its only boosting 5psi? the manual said, what do i set the timing back too?

thanks

u sure its your valves? are u talking about ignition timing? stock timing should be fine for stock boost. maybe its your injectors that you're hearing.

racer - yea me and my friend turned my timing back a little bit last night(it was advanced a hair before turbo). when i got up over 3k rpm it started making a little noise from the engine

so i should just leave it at stock timing then since im going with the stock boost(for now) on the greddy turbo? if so i'll go rent a timing gun today

u have the blue box hooked up correctly? u shouldnt be having any kind of detonation if you're at stock boost with the blue box. check everything again.

yea i followed this diagram
http://www.turbocivic.net/files/96-98bluebox.gif

and everythings wired up correctly, blue box is blinking its green light

i think it be that we just put the timing back way too far

i just went to pep boys and grabbed a timing gun, gonna try and set it to stock and see how it is

also, the other day in preparation for this i filled up with 92 octane with a little bit of 87 still in there, could that just be the 87 burning out?
