Default Turbo size?

Im boosting a stock D16y8 and I was wondering if a T3 Super T70 is too big of a turbo to run 8-9 p.s.i? If it is, what is a good size turbo to use?

Well I am keeping the internals stock and boosting 9 p.s.i, with a good tune, hopefully 230-240 hp?

Umm, so you are asking about a t3/t04 with a T70 coldside? Thats around 84lbs/min rating for that turbo...a tad much for a d16.

If you meant a T3 super60, then it will be fine. 240whp at just 9psi wiht a stock D16 and a straight T3 is asking for a lot though. My friend's old b16a w/t3 60trim hit ~250whp at 9psi to give you an idea. You'll need something like a 50trim t3/t04e to hit that power with 9psi on a d16.

t3 super 60 is good to 320+ on superb tune

its the way to go if your going for 33WHP or more............IMO the T3 super60 is the best turbo for 300+ other that the gt disco-potato which is the way to go but is much more money

get either the T3 Super 60 or a T3/T04E 50 trim .48ar and you'll be happy with the spool and the power....

What are you more concerned about....peak horsepower or best streetability?

48 ar on a stock y8 is a good choice. There is virtually no lag. But if you are willing to trade a little more lag for a lot more power, then I would go with 57 ar. That way your passengers are forced to grab the "oh **** handle" when boost kicks in.
