turbo setup sohc??????????
hey guys i have a 97 hx. i have been thinking about swapping/ or turboing my single cam. im leaning more towards turboing my d16. my goal is like 200whp- 220-whp. its a dd too so i want it very very very reliable. what should i do to the engine, what turbo setup should i get. im new to the turbo thing and dont know too much. i would like to be spooled by 3500-4000. i want to run 10-15 pounds of boost but be RELIABLE. WHAT SHOULD I DO. i have a d16y5. im thininking baout swapping the y8head on it too. what should i do to my motor

Your goals for the stock engine are perfectly reasonable. The safe stock range for a D series is 220-240whp so you don't have to worry about the reliability aspect nearly as much. The first thing i would do is check the health of your engine by running a compression/leakdown test. If the numbers are within ~5% of each other, your engine should be healthy enough for boost.
As for the turbo setup itself, that gets tricky. You have a power goal and have told us somewhat of the characteristics you desire from the turbo. Your goal of 10-15psi doesn't really matter so much, but its good that you're not confining your search to turbos that run "less than 8psi" or some other ridiculous criteria. For more info and insight on the turbo setup, I would check out the rest of the Forced Induction forum with emphasis on the FAQ at the top of the page. It is full of valuable information that will save you having to ask all of the 'beginner' questions.
Swap the Y8 head as well. That will flow a little better than the one you have currently
