Turbo Setup Question B18c1
I wanna piece my own turbo kit together cuz that seems like the way to go and I'm new to the whole turbo thing and I could really use some help. I'm fairly good with cars and i can install the turbo myself and all that i just dont know much about the parts themselves and which things would be good for my setup. So if you guys could give me a list or something of parts and tell me things i should/shouldn't do or get that would be awesome. My car is a 2000 civic si with a b18c1 gsr swap in it, if you have any more questions feel free to ask thanks again.
You'll definately need to list a budget as to how much you plan ot spend in terms of a turbo kit as well as possibly the turbocharger and supplmental equipment. Do you understand about turbochargers and needs to be done?
Its more like the "vacation" build you do later on another car just to have fun and say "look what I did all by myself".

Heres somewhat of a build list that you should consider. Im doing this for a friend of mine for his stock b18c1. He has a goal of around 300hp with a budget turbo (egay) and he is going to get his car dyno tuned with a chipped ecu on crome or ectune. Its going to be about 2000$. I told him to get a AEM Wideband but hes still thinking about it.

Don't go by that list. There is stuff on there that is not needed and will waste your money. Also know where to skimp. Don't do it on the turbo for sure.
Your looking at about $350-$450 for a good name brand turbo not some chinese garbage. A cx racing intercooler off ebay is around $130 and will meet your needs just fine. As for manifold there are different options. For $550 that's a good deal and you get everything you need but if you can weld or know someone who can you can go a cheaper route. Pick up a blox manifold and just make your own downpipe and dumptube. I went from stock b18b to boosted/driving and tuned for 3,000. This includes a new clutch, dyno time and everything else that was needed. I looked for deals also. Hope that gives you a price range now.

I'm lookin for about 300hp tops and only wanna run like 6-8 psi on it and it's gonna be my dd, for all parts and things I've got like 5k that includes turbo injectors exhaust everything I'd need.
5k is a good amount, if you search around you can find really good deals.
For 300hp a stock B18c1 will suffice. And for 300hp you can easily reach that with a 57 trim or even a super 60. The super 60 will give you awesome spool time, however for 300hp you will probably be reaching your limit for power.
57 trim turbo
log manifold (spoolin, inlinepro, rcautoworks)
tial 38mm wastegate
3 inch downpipe
3 inch exhaust
sre intercooler piping
ebay intercooler
any bov will work really, id recommend a tial however
vacuum manifold
a setup like that can be had relatively inexpensive if you search hard enough and find deals. You should be able to fit all that into your budget with a good tune and still have some cash to go out and eat.
first thing id do however is compression check your motor to make sure its healthy and find a great tuner in your area.

5K is a decent budget, especially if you're looking at 300whp (don't worry about the psi so much). That type of budget includes managment and tuning. I'll get you prespective list of the equipment new & used. Do know if you want to keep A/C?
Never mind you'll choke out up top with a small turbo . Emusa has a t3t4 with a ar 50 comp and a ar 63 that spools nice for $139 shipped . I've got one wit well over 5k hard miles on it. No shaft play or smoke . It's a throw away... I made 252whp at 8 psi with a stock c1. A 35r wld have made more but if this is first setup and have q budget why spend $1700 on ur turbo imo.
you dont have to spend 1500 dollars, but id at least invest in something that is proven over and over again to be quality instead of a no name product in which someone gets a good one out of a batch.
Theres a reason why garrett, precision, and borg cost so much. R&D isnt cheap.
For around 500 dollars, you can pick up a relatively cheap brand new or used brand name turbocharger like the ones listed above. Why worry about something that could be a hit or miss? With the type of budget he has for the turbo setup, there really isnt no point in saving 500 dollars on a turbo when he has the money for it.

The Speedfactory that is mentioned in the above post is the only one around and it's in University Place, WA. They are the best in the area. They are pricey but things get done right the first time and they do everything perfectly.
