Its the mount for the sensor......
if thats the case, does it replace part of the housing, or does it attach on to the intake port? can't figure it out

Re: turbo RPM gauge...check it out! (MiraiZ)
how is that pic confusing.. the sensor sees the turbine spinning.. like abs wheel speed sensors work. looks like you run the wires throught the pipe then out a drilled hole or something.

This Meter is developed to measure Turbo charged car condition.
Turbo charged car, due to lack of oil control, occurs etching in turbine,
by adopting non-contact optical fiber sensor, make possible to protect
above trouble and by adopting pulse motor, make strong to vibration and
indicate correct display. Also contains CPU circuit which make possible Max.
okay... can someone translate that to more understanable english?

Seriously, that is cool idea! They need a little help in the marketing dept for US customers though.

I don't think its new, but I 've never seen it before...the only thing I'm concerned about is having that optical sensor being sucked into the blades...

It only goes to 20,000 RPM's...
Dont the T3/T4's spin much higher than that, like 100,000 RPM's (+/- 20,000 or so)?

Oh, and here you go for all of you who are not fluent in Engrish:
http://www.omori-na.com/catalog/spec...turbinerpm.htm
Once again at the forefront of instrumentation technology, Omori North America offers our turbine RPM gauge, equipped with an optical sensor accurate to 200,000 rpm. If you are serious about optimal tuning of your turbocharger system for peak efficency, this gauge will allow you to closely monitor the exact behavior of your turbocharger to tune perfectly within your chosen compressor's efficiency map. This is a special order item, contact us directly for pricing and ordering information. Also available in a white face.
______________
I guess I was correct with my above hypothesis in regards to what RPM it goes up to
