a turbo question
hello, i have a d15b vtec on my 88 rex and i'm running a custom turbo kit. i got the turbo from a subaru impreza 98 it has IHI on it, i guess u can consider it as a small turbo right, it spool very fast and very early, i'm having a serious wheel spinning problem cuz of that.
i'm getting a mitsubishi td05h turbo
if i bought a bigger turbo would that problem go?!
or less wheel spinning?!
plz dont say lsd or slicks i'm talking about street car.

Re: a turbo question (ILcrxsi1)
The IHI you're talking about is a tdo4. They have a faster spool time, or threshold, than a 14b does with a tdo5h wheel in the 6cm^2 housing, but not much faster. You could try swapping a 7cm^2 exhaust housing from an evo3 16g to slow down your spool on the 14b, more than likely would help lessen your wheelspin quite a bit until you hit threshold.

More than likely it's just a standard dx trans. The wheelspin is due to an open differential, meaning no lsd in the trans. No biggie for a daily driver.

actually it does, if i want to change lanes to pass a car and try to push some gas, it start spinning to, my tires are new with 16' rims. i'm running 7psi but i'm lowering it to 4psi due to that problem

Hmm, your turbo must spool up very fast then on your setup. You could try swapping either to a larger a/r exhaust housing, or to a turbo with a larger a/r. That way when you hit that boost threshold it'll be higher in the rpm range where you already have some traction. Or you have a very poor quality of tire.

maybe that and poor quality of roads too

Re: (zenon8890)
i would go with a traction bar, or a lsd transmission from the d15b motor, i believe they have a lsd.
honestly it dounds like the problem isnt the setup but lack of traction control (obviously) however if the turbo spools really quickly, and the setup seems strout, i wouldnt go in and start adjusting thnigs to alter the spool or power.
however i would look into lsd, traction bar, better tires, and a streety car can have a lsd, esp if it is needed in a wheel spin application like yours
