Default turbo question

what kind of turbo would be best suitable for a stock d16z6, and also what kinda of boost should i run since i drive the car over 100 miles a day, mostly highway miles, and i know a need a missing link, but do i need only an fmu, or do i need injectors, chip, just trying to get a rough estimate on the amount of money this will take

Money it will take? Probally twice as much as you originally plan for.

Don't bother with a missing link and a FMU. That's the worst kind of engine management. I'd honestly rather run a AFC hack than that. You have an OBDI engine. Get somebody to burn you a Crome or an Uberdata chip and be done with it.

You can pick up a complete used Greddy kit for less than 1500 in most cases. If you were interested in doing a junkyard turbo setup, you could get out a lot cheaper, but you wouldn't be asking these questions.

What kind of power are you looking at? Something small for a little bit more get up and go or a lot more power?

For a little over 200whp and a stock motor I'd get something like a T25 or TD04 14G (3000-GT) turbo.

If you're looking for something in the 300ish range I'd go with a T3/T4 50 trim.

You'll more than likely need injectors, probably not a fuel pump if you're running a stock motor.

If you have a soldering iron go to moates.net and get the uber/crome chipset. Solder that into your ECU and have someone burn you a basemap on what you plan to run. OR you can get the BURN1 and the datalogging one and you can tune on your own.

A cheap junkyard setup will be ~$1000, using uber or crome. A t25 would have very quick spool/no lag, and even a 50trim t3 would be great. Basicly any stock turbo from a larger 80's-90's turbo'd vehicle. 10-15lbs on either will be relatively safe, assuming it gets tuned using uber/crome properly. Hell, I just did a light tune on a b16a2 that was running a basemap with 40% more fuel than it should have had, and was running fine like that for a few months.

This is a statement I always plan around. Fairly accurate, too

.48AR....50 trim.

Or a T3 super 60.

Most 14b and t25 would be ok for moderate boost.

Personally I'd go with at least a T3, incase you want to upgrade in the future, you'll have the T3 flange and set up already.

The T25 and 14b does have its upgrades too.

Such as upgrading from a SR20DET T25 to a ball bearing T28 from S14, S15 or GTIR depending on wich T25 you first started out as.
Remember that T25 from the RWD SR20 is faced different from the T25 from the AWD/FWD SR20.

The 14b can be upgraded to a Evo Big 16G or such as a 20G.
16G flows about 650cfm. Makes anywhere from 275whp-350whp on a 1G DSM with about 17-22psi of boost.

Tried and proven.
