Turbo plugs---NGK BKR-7E---!?!?
I know this question has probably been asked a gazillion times but when I went into the search engine, I couldnt find anyone with my similar setup asking a similar question. Please dont flame, Ive helped plenty of people out on here,...I just need a lil bit-o-help myself this time.
My car and setup is in my sig (actually Im runnin 10:1 comp now),.... Should be around 350whp and Im trying to get away from the Autocrap racing plugs. Ive tried to get the guys at Advanced to look up the NGK # for me but like I DID see while doing a search,... Everybody has that problem.
O.K...... After all that,... My question is: Should I run these:NGK BKR-7E If not,... Which ones? Also,.. How much difference will I notice (from experience plz)by putting on MSD or some other type of amplified ignition?
Thanks in advance for the help.

I don't know about other brands, but I always get mine from Advance Auto Parts. The part number you need to give them is 6097.

the NGK 6097 is a Bkr7E which is two steps colder then the 5's which are stock. These are what most moderate turbo honda engines run.

Re: (yellowturbo)
The BKR7E is a standard plug most basic plue (that I run), the BKR7E-11 is a wide gap plug (.044MM) and the BKR7ES is a standard center 2.5mm center electrode. Now your probably wondering how I know this, but I have the NGK book open in front of me at work ... NAPA. I hope this helps some.

Re: (crazyrabe)
For Reference
B = 14mm
K = Hex Size 5/8 with Projected tip (C = 5/8 with no projected tip)
R = Resistor
5,6,7, etc = Heat Range
E = Thread Reach (3/4") (BKR7E do NOT have Symbol so they have 3/8" reach)
E = V Groove Center Electrode (BKR7E - This E symoblized the V-Groove electrode NOT the thread reach)
-11 = .044 gap
Hope this helps. For 350whp, 7's are perfectly fine, 9's are too cold for this power range.

Re: (bottlefedb18c1)
the BKR7E are a pretty standard turbo application plug. everyone from honda to toyota to audi use them. ideally, you want to run the widest gap possible before you get misfires, but most people run them at 028 +/- 004.
i've been getting misfires with mine gapped at 024 lately, so i picked up a set of BCPR7ET,s which are triple ground electrode copper plugs. hopefully they'll solve the issue..
FWIW, part numbers are:
BKR7e 6097
BCPR7ET 2164 (oem on 98 porsche 911C4), tri ground
BKUR7ET 7873 (oem on 88 VW GTI) also tri ground.
if you have misfire issues no matter what you try, try the latter two. they're a bit spendier than the 6097's though at about $6/plug.

I know that. He was having problems with the monkeys behind the counter finding BKR7E, so that's why I gave him the alternate 6097 part number.

The last time I bought some, they were $1.68/each at Advance. You do have to pay ahead of time, but they'll arrive the next day.

Thats what I will do. So if I go to Advance and give them either of those plug model#s, they can order them for me, Correct? Only reason why I ask is because they couldnt find the other plugs without a stock#.
Nobody has said anything about the MSD though....... Any comments?

In theory I think the multiple ground straps are a good idea, but I honestly dont get how it improves the performace. It can still only use one strap at a time, and the closest one at that. I am not saying they dont work I am just skeptical is all. But then again if it works for you then I am wrong and I have learned something.

One of the boxes from my last order of the BKR7E/6097 plugs still had Advance's stickers on it. Give them the SKU# 19650398

stock honda ignition kicks *** and will/should be fine for your power levels.
there are 2 different types of the nkr7e's fyi.
one is pre gapped, one isn't. you want the one that is not pre gapped.
i gap mine to 026...i think between 24-28 is recommended by most people so i went in the middle<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by SPOOLINmatt »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i think theres a reason why anyone out there that is making 600+ and drag racing it isnt using stock ignition. </TD></TR></TABLE>
ya but this guy has half that power lol
w/ his setup stock is fine
