turbo numbers

Default turbo numbers

maby this was covered and i didnt find it, but when people talk about a T3/T4 turbo...what in the world does that mean???

T4 is the compressor family and T3 is the turbine family (diffrent sizes). after that they have diffrent numbers acording to the A/R(i believe that means the air ratio) that is pretty much it. some one correct me if i am wrong through

also the T3/T4 is a hybrid turbo because it mixes the two familys together

A/R ratio= Area / Radius ratio

This statement although true is very confusing. Turbine refers to the exhaust side of the turbo. There are T3 and T4 turbines.
Compressor refers to the intake side of the turbo. There are T3 and T4 compressors.
A hybrid turbo is when you mate a T3 turbine with a T4 compressor, thus the T3/T4 name.
