Turbo maintenance

Default Turbo maintenance

I searched but didn't find what I was lookin for. I have the snail off the car to change out the oil feed fittings along with various piping pieces required to remove the turbo from the bottom. Is there anything special or tricks-of-the-trade I can do while its all off in terms of maintenance or inspection, besides the obvious shaft play test?

Oh, and do you have a clue what kind of turbo this is? It came on the car and the previous owner claims its a full T4, but a second opinion would be nice.

That's a T3 hot side. Looks like a TO4E compressor side. That's all we can tell you about the turbo. It could support 350 HP, it could support 700.

from the pictures it looks like a .48 ar hot side and a .60 ar cold side. And like B16 said it looks like a t3/T04e. The turbine is fairly small I would recommend a bigger one depending on your application and hp goals. but that thing should spool up fairly quick.

It ripped off 250whp at 11 psi tuned on a mustang dyno. I like the quick spool for autox and around town.

Any things I should do before I slap that sucker back on?
