Turbo lag on a b16
I have a b16 and want to buy/build a kit with very little turbo lag. I'm daily driving the crx and don't need 500hp from 6000 up. I've used the search function and have come to realize that the RH, and Drag kits are the two kits to choose from. My question is which kit would give the least amount of turbo lag. I've thought about building my own kit but when I try to get advise as to which turbo to use I get answers all over the board! Who has a b16 with a turbo with little lag issues? What are you using? I'm going to purchase Hondata and have RPMNYC.com tune it for me. Thanks for the help guys!!

It all in the way you make your set-up. Since you say that you wnat to turbo a B16, any turbo from a T3 (small, but spools real fast on a B16) to T3/T4 (i would recommend). There are other ways you can help make it spool up faster, such as wrapping the exhaust manifold...there is so much you can do. Do some research and you will see.

Re: (pissedoffsol)
I'm LOOKING FOR A MODERATE 220-250 WHP. I figure that should be very obtainable on stock internals. I want to stay around 5000.

Re: (otto)
5 grand to hit 250 whp is over budgeting like woah
I'd recommend a t3/to4e .48/.63
inline pro mani
tial 38
tial bov
good intercooler like a pwr
550cc injectors
hondata s200b
and a 3" exhaust
eagle rods
some nice forged 9.5:1 pistons
**** a drag kit.

Hmm lotsof good questions.Lots of question answering questions. For your setup you need to figure out where and at What rpm you want the turbo to spool up.
If you want something that build full boost by around 2000rpm id go with a T3 turbine housing .48 a/r with a stage 1 turbine wheel
If you want your spool or boost threshold to be around 3000rpm id go for a t4 turbine with a .63 a/r with a stage 2 turbine wheel.
If you want maximum power then go with a .48 a/r housing with a stage 3 turbine wheel but itll spool around 3500rpm.
As for compressors. for 250 Honest wheel HP youll need a to3 s60 inducer wheel with a .63 a/r compressor housing trim and thats it. And 250 honest WHP is alot of power. in a Avg wieght civic good enough for high 11's to low 12's if you get the car to hook up.
As for engine magnagement id stick with hondata. If there is a good tuner in your area itll runlike stock. ID consider spending money on quality exhuast. Get a good full mandrel bent 3 inch system.also get a good header for your turbo. find something with nice short runners. those long tube = length peice are an atrocity to spool up and genrally are big heat sinks. Do not wrap the header. Get one made from a good grade of stianless. A 0.083 wall with a 316L material with mild steel flange will last forever ifproperly constructed.
Last but not least good luck ! and happy motoring.
