turbo kit?
so i'm completely new to the forced induction crowd...in other words, i'm a complete noob with this so pls help me...
so i'm lookin to turbo my 01 gsr...i just wanna get a bolt on turbo kit from greddy...i got stock internals...i kno i have to boost at only 6 - 8 but its satisfying for me at this moment...what i need to know is what does the turbo kit come with exactly? what do i need exactly to successfully boost my car? and what else do i need that is not included in the kit?

the greddy kit comes with manifold, turbocharger, downpipe adapter, piping, hardware and heat-shields, emanage and 310cc injectors. other things you might want to get not included in the turbo kit are the intercooler kit and a bov. if you don't already i would get an aftermarket exhaust system. If you are satisfied with the boost level of the kit you should be okay with just that.
There are other kits in the marketplace worth looking at too for the price you'll be spending on the greddy kit.

do i necessarily need an intercooler like asap? or is it something i can get like a few months after i bolt on the turbo? if i were to get a greddy bolt on turbo kit...a greddy intercooler kit...and a greddy type - s bov...how much would i be spending?
In my eyes way to much for not a good enought product. A greddy kit is over 3 grand and dose not come with an intercooler which is about another 1000. You could get it down the road if you ran like 5 psi and whated it to run like ****. Just get the intercooler now. The entire package from greddy would cost you over 4000 maybe even closer to 5000. For that price you can get much better kits and you can also get better kits which are more complete than the greddy kit for 3000-3500
so then what would u suggest? who makes a good reliable bang for your buck kit? or should i just build my own? this is what i'm confused about...i've been doing a lot of researching and everyone is saying that i'll get a lot more power if i build my own kit and it'll be only like 3 grand total...if i'm going to build my own turbo kit, what are the exact components i will need?

You can build your own kit for cheap but you need to know excatly every part you need thats why a kit comes in handy. As for kits there are several full-race which in my eyes is the **** but there expensive but deff worth the money, thers peak boost in a close second, as for a little cheaper kit which will probually do the job for you is rev hard, drag ,check out a web site called turbokits.com or give them a call they sell a ton of kits. I have not ordered anything from there but i've called and they were very nice and very helpful. As far as peicing togeather a kit you might be getting your self in over your head but you will need a mani, the turbo, oil feed and return lines and fittings, downpipe, intercooler and pipeing, and all the hardwear for that which consists of t bolt clamps and couplers. A blow of valve , a wastegate, and a wastegate dump tube, some vacume line, and some sort of EMS like hondata or crome ect. And thats just for the kit you probually might want to up grade your exhaust or fuel

Hey, everyone starts somewhere. I had to ask a thousand questions to understand everything that was going on. You're not going to learn unless you ask, but i'll agree that researching is the best thing you can do to further your own knowledge. Good luck with your build and if you have any questions, dont be afraid to ask.
