Default Turbo Issues/Reliability

Hey everyone. This spring/summer I am planning on boosting a b18c1. I am not new to turbo's and Hondas at all. The problem is that I have not met many people in the Chicago area that are boosted, or if they are they have only been boosted for a short period of time. Im not looking to go crazy with the setup, just a decent sized t3/04e and possibley AEM EMS or Hondata . What are some of the problems, minor or large that you've encountered? and how hard do you drive your car and are actually in boost? Thanks in advance

keep the boost low. i wouldnt put a t04e on a civic ex sohc.

running 7psi on a 1.6L nets an equivalent engine displacement of 2.37Liters. cant beat that.

NOthing wrong with a d-series man. All honda motors are open deck designs which are a major problem at elevated cylinder pressures and rpm's.

I was under theimpression that open deck sleeves are capable of handling the same boost as closed deck...

open deck sleeves can handle t he boost fine as wlel but you bore is limited especailly on the darton sleeves which is 83mm for there open deck design. There closed deck can go all the way to 86mm .

GE sleeves uses a different approach which also can be bored to 86mm for all moto junkies..

The other companies like AEBS and RS also can take the large bore fine.

Well it all depends on the amount of boost you run and tuning. I would say definately get hondata or EMS if you want reliability.
