Default Turbo install experience (4 bolt t04e w/ inline pro manifold)

Well, this turbo project was a big pain in the *** compared to the drag 3 kit i had a year ago. As many of you read, I had problem fitting the 4 bolt t3/t04e on my block using the inline pro manifold.

I had to shave a lot of the block, this was pretty stressful because i didnt know how much i had to shave and was worried i might shave too much and go through the block.

as for the downpipe, i got a revhard w/ no flanges, i figured id just have to weld a 4 bolt flange (this was before i knew the damn turbo was gonna be a bitch to fit)....so anyways...it was no dice, we had to cut the downpipe up, and reweld, this was a big pain in the *** as well, but not as bad as shaving the block....

the drag 3 piping fit ok...it was a little short but i managed to get it to work,

The HKS IC was too big so i had to cut the mounting brackets off the bottom (right now its kinda ghetto rigged holding in place, i should probably get it welded, but its fine right now)

Once all that was on, i drove around and started tuning the ems /w the wideband....i was pretty happy until my dumbass (who wasnt trying to boost alot, but was running rich and trying to lean it out) blew my a/c line

I was in the process of buying a dump tube, but figured since last time my dump tube dumped the exhaust right on a a/c line, it should be ok, WRONG ( i think it was just cuz i was running extremely rich and that **** was pouring out the wastegate)...

regardless, i got a new a/c line, and a dump tube that doesnt fit (going tomorrow to get the elbow welded and ****)

and for the last part I did last night that was a bitch....the filter. Little did i know when i finally shaved the block enough to fit the turbo on, i didnt shave enough for the filter, so i had to drop the downpipe, and the whole turbo assembly yet again....

Bling Bling y0

now its all done . pain the ***, but im happy.....thanks to everyone that helped w/ encouragement and discouragement of the turbo fitting and now im finally faster than ART, hehe

cheers

The car looks incredibly nice...

but god, that just has shitty fitment, I would be very unsatisfied with that. I would buy another manifold or make my own before I started hacking my block up..

Jeff, its not the manifold. Read my 4-bolt vs 5-bolt thread.

Mase, how much boost are you running?

Was there another resone besides upgrading that you got rid of your drag kit?

right now just 8 psi...i may up the boost a little later

Honestly, the reason i got rid of my drag 3 kit was because someone offered me a lot of money for my setup locally , and i thought i could live w/ out boost and i wanted a bike....sold the kid, bought a f4, parents found out, hated it, sold the bike, bought another turbo. hehehe
