Re: turbo help with stock internals
Why upgrade the block only to replace it? Not to mention the manifolds, downpipe, routing, etc will have to be changed if you go to a different platform.
I Googled D-series sleeve limits.
This topic always amuses me. Sleeves are pushed so hard on this site, its always the same answer "you have to sleeve if you want to push past X psi". Honestly you dont need sleeves till the 500whp+ range. The d-series sleeves are made of the same material as the b-series sleeves. They are equally as strong so you can base your assumptions on how strong the stock d-series sleeve is compared to the b-series. The b-series have seen 500-600whp range without cracking, so there is your answer. IMO sleeving is a waste for 95% of the cars on this site. Sleeve if you want to overbore to get larger displacement. Sleeve if you want to push your engine to its limits (600whp+ range). Dont sleeve if you are looking at making anything under 500whp level. Tune your engine so you dont detonate, your set. I have pushed stock b-series block to the 350-400whp level on Stock internals, Stock sleeves which supposively cannot be done.
