Default turbo help please!

the td-04h from the 3000gt/volvo 740/volvo 760/ etc...

I've had trouble finding out about it, but I did read it has a 6cm2 housing, slightly smaller than the 15g from the greddy kit...

anybody ever run this turbo?? I'm wondering if it would work for me (z6 vitara setup, stock head)??? ... Or is this going to choke out up top?

I'm not running it for drag, it's my DD at this point...

input is appreciated!

if it's the t3 .42/.48 then it is too small. many people like them cause they are cheap and spool really fast. but i've heard from many people who used them on their b18 that it runs out before redline. not sure about the z6 though. im sure you'll get more input.

well if its smaller than the greddy 15g than it will definetly run out of breathe as the 15's fall off up top on d16's

That's a pretty small application. Remember, the purpose of those were to help with low end torque on an engine that has long stroke and a good size bore. It was not designed to for any top end power, even on a SOHC like yours.

Take the time to find out what hp you want to go for that goal and get a new turbocharger to match those goals, instead of searching for cheaper junkyard units to see if they "match" with your needs in an effort to save a few well-invested dollars.

wise words..

the reason why I was asking about this one was the fact that a buddy of mine had one for cheap (aka free...)

If it were a decent fit, then I'd go for it... I don't mind spending money to get something more suitable... I think I'll go back and see if I can find an hy-35..

thanks

Usually "free" from the OEM is something that doesn't fit our application.
