Default Turbo and H22

I'm looking for some advice.
I'd like to turbo my Lude and I was wondering whats the best way of going about it. I've read up about the kits you can buy as a package with everything you need ie drag, fmax etc.
I want to build up my engine so i can run good solid power SAFELY. What will this involve. Can anyone recommed the best way to do it or what parts to use(pistons etc). I figured if im gonna turbo the car i may as well do it properly and run a decent amount of boost. Id like around the 300-350bhp bracket and im wondering if itll end up better if i buy specific parts rather than a whole kit.

Sorry to blabber on like that.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Chris

best recommendation is to do a search, this topic is covered about every day, but for starters, for a lot of whp you will need to fully build your bottom end:

Sleeves
Pistons
Rods
balance and polish crank
new bearings
new oil and water pump
arp studs
new headgasket and other gaskets and seals...

Well you don't really need all that stuff.......But if you're just starting I'd do some research, and save a lot of money-- H-motors cost 3X as much as a Bseries to build for a turbo.... I would suggest a built motor, even for your first time, most of us learned that the hard way. You don't need a racecar head either, just some new springs and clean the valves up......... Unless you''re familar with turbos, i'd start with a kit.........

do it in stages
In a nut shell
-1 get a kit or fab your own, get fuel management & boost the stock motor first, you can make 230-240 whp with stock internals safely, you will have to learn how to drive the car all over again with this extra hp

-2 get all of the bolt ons, intake manifold, 3 inch exhaust etc. this should put you close to the 300whp mark

-3 build the motor sleeves, pistons, rods, oil pump, etc. turn up the boost presto!! 350 whp or more

there is more to it than that, but if you do it in stages it gives you time to learn your set up
