TURBO cams?!
I can get my hands on Skunk2 turbo cams, any suggestions or recomendations on other turbo cams that are better? i got a built valvetrain just need turbo cams, and with turbo cams is there specfic type of retainers or dual valves springs to get? cuz i already have retainers, dual valve springs etc, do/would i need to change them out for different ones to support the turbo cams or i can still use the same ones? Thanks

I believe there's a thread out there that shows ITR/skunk2 stage 1 NA performed better than the turbo cam.

It was a jun II intake cam and a S2S1 exhaust cam that blew turbo cams out of the water.

I believe the S2S1 intake and exhaust out performed the S2turbo cams.

Same as Skunk2 turbo cams, so basically get the crap beaten out of them even by most OEM cams.

Re: (booja)
To a certain extent.
I have heard of ITR's making an additional 40whp over b16 cams. On high hp setups
Custom grinded cams will go great for high hp applications, that is if you have the $$$$$

I hope so I have some Skunk2 Pro1's that are going into my new motor.

stock idle and stock reliability with way more power </TD></TR></TABLE>
I'm hoping people don't get lesser cams just because idle issues. I got an LS with huge ports, fully built valvetrain, and the biggest crower cam to idle stock...with uberdata. Not only that, but big dohc vtec cams are easier to idle than big LS cams, because of the low-lobes are made more for street/idle. I can see having idle issues with no backpressure, 1000+ cc injectors, high dur/lift cams, and a shortrunner intake mani. Outside of that (meaning 98% of setups)...
FWIW, I haven't done too much research on exactly why it works this way, but here goes. Traditional turbo cams are high lift with relatively short duration. That allows for less overlap, which equates to less exhaust gas reverting back into the cyl (factory turbo guys usually use small turbos with high exh backpressure), but also doesn't help clear the comb chaimber of burnt gasses. When you take a Honda that flows great for it's displacement, it can benifit from more duration to clear out the cyl. You can also tune out some overlap with cams if needed, while still retaining good duration. When you look at factory turbo dyno graphs, you'll notice a gob of low-mid range torque, which drops like a rock 2/3 the way to redline - even with heads flowing better than hondas. Turbo size doesn't play much of a factor, since you can see it even with bigger turbos. If your honda motor even hints at dropping torque after 6k, the concensus is that your head is crappy, or your turbo is too small. Most well designed/matched hondas here spool up fairly quick, and keep that torque till redline.
If most honda turbos ran cast-iron elbows for downpipes, and 2" exuast, and very crappy exhaust manifolds, it might be different. But I suggest staying away from turbo cams for a honda.
