Icon2 Turbo cam help!!

im aiming for 500hp on pump and in the 600's with race gas...here is my setup

benson sleeved 84mm gsr
eagle rods
9.0:1 cp pistons
port and polished head
pro series intake manifold
pro series valve train
id 1000's
walbro intank and bosch 044 inline
stock gsr cams

my question is, will the stock gsr cams be enough for me to reach my power goal? or would i need to get somthing like pro1 cams??will the pro series intake manifold be adequate enough for my setup??

gsr cams can get you there...just expect to be at higher boost. Why not get some ITR/Blox B/ skunk2 Pro1's or Tuner1/Tuner2's. They will deff get the job done.

24psi on gsr cams got me 650/410 on a pt67 thats pretty conservative to me

on a smaller turbo im sure you will need to run more boost

stock gsr cams have been know to make 750

If you are going to upgrade the intake manifold to a victor X, wouldnt it be a good idea to have cams that will support the shift in powerband?

If GSR cams make power up to 8200-8400rpms and starts falling off from there, you are shifting your powerband upwards from there with the victor X, so wouldnt you want cams to complement it?

please correct me if im wrong in my logic

Yea that is tru.but the victor x has a larger plenum, which allows for more air flow and resulting in more power in my "gsr cam powereband"

yea i dont think my fuel setup up would be sufficient enough for e85...looks like at 600 hp my fuel pumps and injectors are completey maxed and thers no room for play...prolly best for me to get tuned for around 500 on pump and 600 on race gas

Right thats a given, the larger plenum and larger runners are going to result in a shift into your powerband however.

There is no point in you adding air into your system (VictorX), if you cannot expel the air from your system fast enough (cams), and since up top is where the victor X shines the most, you would be shortening your powerband.

My vote goes for ITR cams. At least with those and an ITR style manifold such as S2 and Blox, you will see an overall gain throughout your powerband and you will be able to make more power up top.
