Turbo bolts keep on getting lose. Any solution?

Turbo bolts keep on getting lose. Any solution?
I just turbocharged my s2000.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1167838
My turbo bolts kept on getting loose. The turbo-manifold bolts got loosened a few times. I retightened without much success. I drove to the track last weekend, only to find that the dump pipe was disconnected from the turbo and wastegate completely. The bolts holding the dp to the turbo and wastegate felled off!!!
The car is in the workshop for a nissan diff conversion atm and will head back to my friend's workshop to fix this "turbo trying to come off problem"
The engine was blue printed, balanced and rebuilt. There is no problem at 16psi and it has reved up to 9500rpm in the past with a 14psi supercharger on it.
Has anyone had this problem before? Any possible solution?

Very common problem. When heated, the stainless steel bolts expand a bit more than the cast iron flanges. You should tighten your bolts when the turbo is hot. If they don't snap off when it cools you're golden.
Failing that, use safety wire.

Try using lockwashers. I had the same problem on my GSR, the lock washers have worked great so far!

even with lock washers my turbo bolts back out, safety pins would be a lifesaver but i dont really have any overhang with these bolts...

They worked for me....or just try tack welding on the bolt. . .vibration won't make it come off, but if you ever wanna unbolt it, a little force will break it free.....

why anyone uses the same type of nuts for ur bolts as the ones on the stock engine manifold
if u guys havent noticed the reason why the stock exhaust manifold nuts have cuts on their head its because they are designed to grip into the bolt, and provide a bite effect, wich wont allow it to backoff easy
go to a real nut& bolts shop. they will know what to get

This is a little different and would require drilling, but i work on planes and we saftey wire bolts to each other in a clockwise double twist and if one tries to back out the other wont let it. like this
You can do this on one, two , three, four, five, six, etc bolts/nuts. you can also do each on individually and do it to something stationary ie. the manifold
this takes a little practice to get it nice and tight. but i think it would look different i may do it to my wastegate bolts just to be different. Your probably going to ***** your hands one or two times too
here is a site with more info:

PS: Nice s2000

Re: Turbo bolts keep on getting lose. Any solution? (honda9krpm)
As ghetto as this makes me sound, I actually had three bolts back out within a matter of minutes and my turbo fell right off while I was on the freeway shortly after I had done some maintenance and had taken the turbo off. Luckly the downpipe held it up and kept it from crimping the oil line too much. Thank goodness for the extra wire I had in my trunk that I was able to tie it up with to get it home.
I have looked all over for some sort of loc-tite that would be good for somewhere up to 1000 degrees but there's nothing anywhere close. So I just used the regular hi-temp loc-tite coupled with some lock washers and everything has been good since. (I still check everything frequently though, I'm not going to have my turbo fall off again )

Re: Turbo bolts keep on getting lose. Any solution? (1Bar GSR)
We ran into the same probelm bolts falling out of the turbo to manifold. I tried star washer, spring washers, loctite. I now torque the bolts then put a small tack on one side in a spot that can be ground off if needed. Hadn't had a bolt fall out since, 20+ turbos later.

you guys are great
thanks for all the tips
I will prob have to use a combination of these techniques for different bolts as the space is really tight for a top mount turbo in the s2k.
Thanks again

Re: (crx12)
I had this problem all the time with the turbo-mani bolts. I used star washers on the dp and never had a problem with them.
For the mani bolts, i used 4 small hose clamps (the worm type) and tightened them around the head of each bolt in such a way that the the adjustment part would be backed against the turbine housing not letting the bolts turn. Never had a problem again. Kind of hard to explain.
