Default turbo b16

Im new here and after searching i cant find a solid answer to my question.

How much power can a completly stock b16 handle safely?

I have a 00 ex and i am getting a good deal on a USDM b16 with tranny for $1k.and since i was gonna turbo the d16 anyway i want to turbo the b16.

On turbod16.com ive read that the stock d16y8 can hold 200whp realiably all day as a daily driver and maybe up to 220ish whp if you get a good tune.

This car is my dd and i drive about 90miles on the freeway a da,y 4 days a week but its slow as a civic id like my car to have some ***** and be reliable at the same time. if a head gasket or arp studs make a big difference let me know cause that is easy to change, i just dont want to take the block apart.

what are some good kits for the b16? id probably go with hondata with s300 for tuning since ive read that a good tune is the key to realiability.

Ive read that the elelbrock kit is street legal but the official site doesnt sive any numbers on price or hp. id like the kit to be street legal cause i live in cali and the chp knows their ****. id get the motor bar'd first to get my lil sticker of course.

any links or anyhelp would be appreciated. thanks

I would stay around the 280-300 range. Anything higher and your dipping into reliablility. If your like me your going to want to beat on it.

If you do a search there are a LOT of threads on how much hp stock b-series sleeves can handle. The gen consensus is that they will take 300whp reliably. Many people do this and a bit more, but I would try to stay around this mark. And there are many, many kits that will get you to this mark. Full-Race, Peakboost are pretty much considered the upper echelon of Honda turbo kits and there are others that make very good kits as well. There are many other variables as well. You need to figure out what kind of spool characteristics you want and also if you will ever want to increase your hp and what amount if you do. This info would help us give you better advice. That being said, it would be a good idea to do a search on this. You will find many people in (or that have been in) your same predicament and will help you figure where your goals fit in with all of this. GL.
