Which turbo??? again
Between a Garrett Super 60 .48 AR, Precision 4854B .63AR or a 4831B .63 what is a better choice of a DD street car want a spool up at around 3500-4000 and 300-320whp?? I dont want a turbo that spools up to soon and I dont want on that is laggy. I know the 2 Precision turbos are basically the same at a 50 and 57 trim Garrett.

Re: Which turbo??? again
Opps sorry, figured most would know my motor setup from other posts. LS Vtec stock B18B1 block with ARP rod bolts and stock B16 head. Compression is at about 9.8:1, stock PR4 pistons. I will be building a sleeved block in the future with 10:1 compression, forged piston and rods bored to 81.5mm.

Re: Which turbo??? again
Yea with a b series and Vtec head i would never recommend a .48 a/r. on either of those turbos.
The spool difference shouldnt be too huge to notice it, maybe on a dyno graph but not on the street. You would notice running out of steam up top. For youre HP goals you would prob be fine. I still wouldnt do it tho. You would be better of going down on trim and getting a .63a/r
A 50 trim with a .63 a/r would be ideal. You would get to youre goals with ease, it would spool up and respond great. You'd have a much better powerband with the 50 trim .63/ar then with the 57 trim and a .48.
Turbo selection isnt my expertise,However im not clueless either. This is my educated guess, Personally i wouldnt get the .48 a/r

Re: Which turbo??? again
Yeah I am leaning towards the 4854B .63AR. I do have a higher whp goal in the future of about 500whp on high boost so thing on going on the larger side but the 57 trim will not get me much closer to whp compared to the 50 trim, in any case at that point a larger turbo is needed. So I think the 50 trim will give me a better response and usable power band overall. The Go Autoworks kit I am looking at has those 3 turbos as options and the Super 60 was the default turbo for the kit so I was just wondering.

Yea def, if you want 500whp in the future you would def need a different turbo then what youre listing. The 50 trim is youre best bet for youre current goals.
Then when you want more power, Which will happen! you can upgrade to a Surfer which will get you to 500whp in the right set-up
Get some ID 1000's too make youre tuner happy, and then its one less thing you need to get when you up youre power goals

Re: Which turbo??? again
^^^ That is my plan in fact, that way minimal mods will need to be made to the turbo kit to run the Silver Surfer or Reaper turbo from TheShodan. Boost the car on the stock block shoot for 300ish whp and drive it, in the mean time build the B18B1 block I have and get a larger turbo, change out bottom end and turbo and get a retune. Because I know I Will want more power, you always do.
Oh and yeah I was planning on running ID 1000cc injectors because they plug and play no resistors needed and they are easy to tune with from what I under stand.
