I need advice
hey i just bought a 94 acura integra, i know it has a 1.8l motor in it but the guy i bought it from got it wrecked and fixed it up it has a new motor which i assume is the 1.8l but it doesnt say vtech on it, i also have a garret 51mm turbo can i put it on my car and if so what all do i need...i also have the ability to buy a motor from honda if i needed to to put the turbo on....i was told that you cant turbo a vtech or either a nonvtech...i dont know if its true its what i was told...everything should be stock on the car so someone let me know what you think i should do...i mean my grandfather works for honda so i can get motor, parts, etc. but if i can turbo it the way it is id like to head that direction just let me know what yall think
Did you do some research? Did you look on the block for the engine number?
You should research first before you ask these questions.. Because lately a lot of people have been putting some dumb **** up...
Your able to turbo any motor. Just as long as you have the neccasary components such as ic, charge pipes, manifold etc.... Look at the sticky, there should be a "how to turbo" thread!!!

Slow down, chief. Check out all the FAQs of the forum first highlighted in grey at the top. All of your misconceptions that you've heard are unfounded.
The OP is correct. You cannot turbo a vtech or nonvtech engine. Neither one of those motors exists. It's VTEC. You should know that before starting a thread on H-T. <--- that period is capitalized and in bold in case you can't tell
wow i thought this was supposed to be a helpful thread i know nothing about VTECs but from the way everyone is saying im better off just crushing this car since i cant get any help from people who are "supposed" to be honda lovers glad to see i wasted my time thanks
Well it might actually help if you even knew what motor you had. Of course you can turbo it, you can turbo anything with a motor. Just do a quick search you'll find everything you need to go turbo. And you also need a hp goal. Also don't think turbo is going to be something easy and cheap

It also may help to put PERIODS at the end of each sentence and use capitals at the beginning so we can better idea of what you're jabbering about.
Personally, if you are for real, I would stop asking and start reading. No one here can talk you through a turbo install, you need to do the research! Start with google and find a site that tells you how a turbo works. Also, research VTEC (no H). There are PLENTY of youtube videos that explain in detail how it works.
If you dump money on the table and just get someone to install it for you without knowing how everything works, you will be in and out of the shop so many times and you will run out of cash real soon.
Finally, if you are too lazy to do all of this (including using proper grammar) then I would sell your Teg and get a SRT-4 and call it a day.

The only reason no one is willing to give you an answer, is because it's been explained and answered more times than the amount of days you have been alive....

Don't be a crybaby just because no one wants to spoonfeed you like they are your mother.

No i am mechanically inclined i can do most anything to a car except turbo installs, i have never done one or seen someone do it. Now i purposly wasnt using correct grammer because i was pretty ticked. I'm not stupid i just dont know what im doing...i understand there are threads about it but if i dont know what im looking for or looking at the point of me reading them...oh wait there wouldnt be a point...which is why i was asking in the first place. I have friends that are honda enthusiast and i have a friend who put a m3 bmw motor in a older model and put 2 garret turbos on it. But he knows nothing about jdm, which is why i was asking. Just like for example i didnt know that most people set a whp goal i just wanted to turbo it and go, probably my first mistake i dont want a race car just a daily driving car that is fast.

Where do you live man? Beat bet it seems is hopefully someone can point you in the direction of a reputable Tuner. Go there and tell them what your wanting to do and they will be better suited to help you. You havnt been able to provide us with enough info to help you. Not to mention the most important thing you can do with a turbo Honda is get a good tune, so youll be looking for a reputable Tuner anyways. Remember read, read, and read somemore. There is literally a wealth of knowledge on this site if your willing to look for it. There isn't a question that hasn't been asked by someone in your position already. Good luck to ya.
