Default Which turbo for 500whp?

My setup:
sleeved 82mm B16, stock stroke
8.5:1 comp cp pistons/eagle rods
port and polished head w/itr cams, reving to 9500rpm
crpfab ramhorn mani, blah, blah, blah.
880cc injectors, 255lph pump, hondata s300

currently i just have a garrett t3t4 60trim turbo, and made 457whp/298tq @24psi w/110 octane.(before the p&p head) i really feel that my turbo is past it efficiency level. im looking for a turbo that will make at least 500whp @22ish psi, less psi if possible.

ive really been thinking about a gt35r, but im afraid it might be too big for my goals. ive even been thinking on the smaller side and considered a 60-1, or i guess i could meet in the middle and get an sc61 or sc67. i dont want something super laggy, and i would like to keep the price at $1000 and under.

which turbo is best suited for my application? i wont buy anything other then a borg warner, precision, or garrett.

Either the Borg Warner S258 or the S362...pm The Shodan or Turbodano if you want prices and specs.

Here is a link to some of the BW S258 testing. It was done on a local car...i've seen it at the track and its badass.

S362, GT3540S (journal bearing), GT35R, GT66, T3/T67. You've got a lot of choices, everyone is just going to have a preference. If you MUST have this amount of hp for the street, look to the larger turbos to do this.

Remember, you're going to experience "lag" regardless, you're only 2 litres, and yet you want 500whp. Fact of life.

i thought about that too, but after looking around, a gt35r is only about $50 more, and would be more efficient. those are some damn good numbers tho. id like to get 420whp on 91 octane @17ish psi, and 500whp on race gas at around 22psi.

schister, im glad to hear you bring up the borg warners. i have a friend who owns a local shop, and is a BW dealer. so far, ive been impressed with borg warner turbos.

anyone else have an opinion?

They're both excellent turbos and the gt35r maybe more efficient, but what benefit are you going to see from it over the 30r given your goals? You will see later spool, smaller powerband, and less responsiveness, for the same level of power. Just my 2 cents.

okay, i looked at the s362, but there seem to be 2 versions of it. one being the s362NET with says is optimal for 450-630, and the s362 rated at 500-650. since my goals are only 500whp max, i think the s362NET would be the turbo im looking for. plus, the "net" version is about $300 cheaper.

is there any reason this would be false? can the s362NET meet my power goals, at my desired boost levels?

GT3076R gets my vote. Power numbers in my sig.

Also with this power it spins street tires in 5th and BFGs in 4th. I can't see wanting any more power then this. It's more then enough to go 10s in the 1/4.
