Default Turbo 4dr Civic Build thread. At last.

Hello,

I have been a member on here for 11 years and in that time I have had quite a few Hondas. However I never saw a build through to completion for one reason or another.

After thinking about purchasing a 2010 or 11 Nissan GTR I finally decided to go back to my roots and have some fun with it. My brother and I own 360 Imports in Vancouver, WA. He did a V6 95 civic Si in 09 I believe and that was great fun. It's time for something with a little higher output. Here's the rundown.

2000 Civic Ex 4dr. It has a bad engine so it makes a great donor.
B18c1 courtesy of gringoteg. Thanks for all your help Myles!
LS CSS block and ls crank
GSR head with Victor X
Precision Billet 6165 e cover T3 with Vband exhaust. courtesy of Pure Turbos
Rld-fab ramhorn great customer service!
JE 81.5mm pistons. Compression about 9.4:1
GSC Cams, Valves, Springs, and Retainers
Competition Stage 5 clutch with Extreme pressure plate
I haven't decided on a Walbro 400 or intake 255 and inline 255.
Hondata S300
Precision 46mm Wastegate
Yonaka Intercooler 26x12x4" core
FIC 1100cc injectors
E85 Fuel

I feel like everything should match up pretty well so I can get the most out of the turbo.
This is designed to be a street car just for fun but I may get the competitive itch as I usually do.

There will most likely be a cage of some sort but that hasn't been sorted out yet. I still have a few parts to buy and machine work to do.

Evan of 360 Imports in Vancouver, WA will be assembling everything.

I don't have pics now but I am sure Evan can post a couple of the donor car. Any comments are welcome. If I am missing anything feel free to chime in. Thanks and I will be updating this thread as progress is made. Depending in time to finish machine work I hope to have this up and running by May 1st.

Good luck with your build. Everythings looks good. However i do see a few areas of improvement ( unless parts are already bought)

1. Those injectors are way to small for that turbo on E85. What are your power goals? those injectors wont be able to handle the max output of that turbo on E85.
2.) if on primarily E85 i would look into buying higher compression Pistons. `10:1 + , youll have better driveablitly out of boost since it is a street build. If you already have the 9:1 its not the end of the world...those are ok, but if you havent bought them yet i would advise to go higher

I know I am going to run out of injector. We plan on bumping base pressure and seeing what we can get out of them. It was either these or fic high z 2150s and I wasn't ready to make that jump. FIC doesn't make anything in between in high z yet. I don't have a horse power goal per say but if I need to throw out a number lets say 550-600 whp. If I did end up going with a bigger injector I would most likely get a bigger turbo as well. I had originally ordered a 6152 e cover billet but the housing was 3 weeks back ordered so I went 65 instead. The info on the pistons is good to hear. I got a great deal on them but I imagine I could find someone who would swap me out. I am new to this E85 thing but it seems like the way to go. Im all for better throttle response and quicker spool.

Looks promising

I wouldn't worry about crazy power yet...
Those injectors should be good for 500-550whp is on e85 (depends).

So with regard to compression I already have the pistons but could sell or trade for higher compression. So a couple questions:
How much higher can I go?
Are pistons from a given manufacture made from different grades of metal? ie lower compression models deisgned with metallurgy for boost and hgiher compression all motor pistons a lighter material?

I changed plans a little. I didn't want to fork over the money for sleeving right at the moment so I saved the gsr block and picked up a ls block, crank, and Manley rods. The block has been sent to have the CSS done.

I think this will be a good combo to start with as I should be right at the hp warranty limit with my injectors.

Flywheel finally showed up as well. Evan has a Sparco Evo 2 and some OZ wheels for me also. Once we begin building the engine I will start posting pics.
