Totally disagree. It largely depends on his setup and goals. It would be nice if the original poster listed some things like, say, your current SETUP. Motor?Car?Goals? That would be start. Maybe F/I isnt for you. You never know. List your current setup.

I doubt if it would cost that much money for just a turbo setup. But like Mag00n said, turbo might not be for you. The only way to find out is to do a lot of research and how turbos work and how to maintain them so everything works right.

My car is a 98 civic ex, d16y8. When i stomp the gas, a school bus could beat me. My goal isnt to race my car, but i want something more fun to drive, and thats got more power than my stock set up. So far performance wise i have an obx exaust, and a dc sport short air intake, which i know will have to go with turbo. But as far as i know turbo is the most power for your money, and i correct?

A quality dseries kit can easily be put together for under 2k, and I think that would give you what your looking for. A 1.8 swap would also more than likely make you happy but will end up costing you a little more. You have a lot of research to do.

Yeah, a d series kit can be put together and tuned for under $2000.
If you want to learn about turbos then you go and hang around these sites:
turbod16.com
homemadeturbo.com
and d-series.org.
Just read a lot and ask questions.

You don't need to modify the engine internally but you obviously have to get the neccessary turbo parts.

Run a search and see what other people are running in their D16 setups.
