Tuning Complications with Crome
Alright. Well, I will start from the beginning and explain all the details of the build
First off, started with an SS Autochrome turbo kit. Therein lies the first problem. Cracked manifolds, etc. Currently running the T3/T4, 550cc injectors, Crome tuned with stock fuel pressure. The motor is a completely stock B18C1. So I get it back from the shop, the build has been completed. I put in a basemapped chip courtesy of phearable.net and it runs half *** as expected. So we throw the wideband on and do some tuning.
We take it out for an hour - hour and a half and dial in the WOT to 11.5:1 from 4000 RPM to 5500 RPM and then 11:1 until redline. Timing is has been untouched as per phearable's basemap. So I believe it ends up in the 16-18 range at final map. Part throttle is still fucked, running way too lean, its bouncing around like crazy at part throttle, it hardly idles. Alright, well, whatever, have to pack it up for the day. That was the last time I tuned my car and it was relatively low temperature (around 0 degree Celsius).
So I drive it around for 3-4 weeks, seems to be running well. Pulls hard under boost, makes good power, not running overly rich. But then something changes.
All of a sudden its running like ***, running extremely rich, bounces and bogs hard under part throttle. So obviously the tuning is out.
A lot more than was expected though. Put it on the dyno and its insanely lean under idle and extremely rich under boost pressure. But its changing dramatically from pull to pull. Spiking at some points in the map from where it was previous extremely rich (9:1) all the way up to 11.6:1.
Now here is where my question lies. Could the tune possibly be affected that drastically over a period of three weeks where the temperatures have warmed from 0 to around 20. Does air density change the tune that drastically. Also, why would my air fuel ratios be spiking all over the place as they are?
Any help would be appreciated. This whole turbo setup has been a big nightmare for me and I'm just looking for the slightest possible hint of a solution to my problems.

Re: Tuning Complications with Crome (95IntegraRS)
Well i havent had any problems with crome thus far. its been fairly good to me. Turbo tuned cars have been okay. The weather here is like 80 degrees Faraheit. I'm not sure how big of an impact that would be but it shouldnt be that big of a difference if your motor is up to operating temperature and you set the oxygen sensor to open loop.

That temp change probably wont cause that huge of an afr swing espescially with that size injector. Do you have a copy of your .bin file?

Re: Tuning Complications with Crome (95IntegraRS)
Had my buddies car tuned by phearable using crome. It was fairly good but the idle and part were rich. The afr's were in the low 11's after 5k rpm and 8psi. We later got it street tuned and since my buddies car was having ignition problems we could not get the full tune but everything was pretty good afterwards. The idle is jumpy at times, seems to like to get warm first and then it stabilizes. initially it jumps from like 800 to 1300 rpm. Good luck

We used the Ostrich to tune and then burnt a chip with the final .bin file. But I would just like to know where this massive fluctuation is coming from as people are telling me it should not jump that drastically and others tell me it would be possible.

Re: (SOHC_MShue)
I also run crome on my setup. I am running 880cc injectors and my car idles dead steady at 1000rpm with a afr of 14.5 to 15.1 at idle part throttle is also in the 14's and wot is in the 11's.
So no problems with crome.

No, not yet, won't have it until Wednesday because he is out of town until then.
I'm not saying Crome is a bad program by any stretch. I love using it. I'm just wondering why my tune sucks so hard.

Proly all in tuning. Let's see a map otherwise this is useless
