you hook up a wide band in to the muffler and it reads the air fuel ratio on the guage inside the car while the tuner has a lap top hooked up to the ecu.

yeah, instead of getting it tuned on a dyno, you use a wideband 02 sensor and a laptop and take reading swhile driving and tune based on the data collected.
