Default TQ VS HP

I am trying to differ TQ numbers from HP numbers and was just wondering if hypothetically speaking you had an EK that had a B series motor, say a GSR that made 300WHP and 260WTQ and then you had the same EK that had a B16 in it that made 300WHP and 215WTQ, would the setup with the more TQ just walk all over the one with less TQ or would it be close?

dude, you seriously need to pick up a book and read about peak VE of an engine, and then think hard about the formula used to calculate HP using TQ, not P (thats for electric motors)... anyways. HP is a number calculated based on TQ and RPM.

So if engine X makes 80Tq @ 6000rpm and engine Y makes 80Tq @ 6000rpm they will have the same hp values in theory.. theres many loses in engines and things that are very hard to calculate exactly, mostly mechanical losses, engine x and y wont have the same exact mechanical losses.

I am not trying to bench race, I am simply trying to decide if I want to go through with building an LS/Vtec or go with a B16 SiR-II and save some money but loose the TQ that I would have with the LS/Vtec.

because in my eyes, bench racing is where I wanted to know if I would beat another guy that I know or that wants to race me. The question in my first post was not about racing someone else, I guess I might have worded it wrong but the main reason for making this thread was again to try and find out if its really worth building an LS/Vtec or just sticking with a B16 SiR-II. Yes I know that its a 1.6 VS 1.8 but I have seen tons of high power B16 but they just dont have the TQ and I understand thats a toss up between the two.

Please don't get sucked into the moronic thinking of "HP vs TQ". They're really the same thing (engine output) and the thinking and assumptions that go along with that argument are therefore retarded. Think of broad powerband vs less broad powerband.

I pulled a 450+hp b16. Don't know his torque, but don't think its was near 400lbs . Don't know his weight either, def a factor. Actually, just too many factors that came into play.
