Hey guys...

having trouble deciding on setup.. I've never had a boosted car, so I'm not sure on what to do..

I'm going to be running a vitara setup for the bottom end (d16z6) and mostly stock head (likely a valve job) (maybe some headwork and a bisi cam down the road )

Currently I have a 14b (mitsu) turbo, and from the research I've done this setup with minimal headwork should put out anywhere from 180-220whp...

The other setup I've been looking at is a Holset Hy35... I know these are good up to 400 hp before they start maxing out...

I realize the 14b will spool quickly and should hold strong till redline, whereas the hy35 will have a bit of lag, but should hit full boost between 4k-5k...

The car is going to be a weekend warrior/summer toy when it gets turbo'd... This will be a street car.. (platform is a 95 hatch)

Anyways, I'm torn. I'd really appreciate your guys' input on what do to... Should I keep the 14b, or sell it and upgrade the setup?

whats the trim on each of the turbo and AR?

 

I think ditch the 14b. Cause your gonna be seriously disappointed, and it will prob die by redline. Might as well do all the upgrades you want now so there is no down time later. Do it once and hope you dont get bored. lol

 

Get a bigger turbo.

not sure of the trim with the turbo.. I do know it has a 9cm housing, and a several guys are running these on a 1.6L and having fun doing so... there's even a guy on the boards here running an h1c (18-21cm housing) on a 1.6!
