Torn between the SC34 and SC61
I am building a turbo setup for my 92 Civic Si Hatch w/ a b16 motor in it.
As far as my setup, well...
Stock jdm b16
p28 ecu (soon to be chipped running UberData)
rc 440cc inject.
tial 38mm wg
turbox bov
crp manifold
jrc 6in fmic
255lph HP fuel pump
That is basically everything i have purchased so far for the setup. The last thing to purchase is my turbo. And I know I want somthing that is hella fast and great car for street driving. I am not trying to build a super fast drag car but I still want somthing with power. So I guess what I am trying to ask is, will I be satisfied with the power and low spool of a SC34 or would I be happier with a little bit of lag but the power of a SC61.

Re: (mopar junkie)
I ran the sc61 on my b16, full built. I would deffinately recommend the sc34 for street driving. It'll still be fast and make power. Paul

Great! Thanks guys. I have been trying to research as much as possible, and I was leaning towards the SC34 mostly. So this helped with the decision.

The sc34 is a good street turbo. The problem it has is that after 12 or so psi, it becomes very inefficient. You'll have to decide what you want now and in the future. I went with the sc34 because all I really want is around 300 or so whp.

I had a stock b17A motor with sc34 on it and i loved it spooled up great and held to redline. I sold the 34 to a local member on here and i bought a sc61 for my bulit motor. The sc34 is a great street turbo and good on stock motors.. You want go wrong with it and youll be happy.

Im also on a SC61 B16. I think you will be happier with the SC34 IMHO. Would be much more fun on the street.

Wow well, I think that basically sums that up. SC34 seems pretty badass. Sounds perfect for street. I really appreciate your comments. I will be posting pictures once I get my turbo setup all in (sept)

HAHA lets see that compressor map, it can do WELL past 12psi efficiently.

Re: Torn between the SC34 and SC61 (Mpir3)
I'm speaking relatively. The sc61 is more efficient than the sc34. Of course, the sc34 is by no means a slacker past 12, its just that there are more efficient turbos out there around that number. Sorry, I was too general with my statment.

Re: Torn between the SC34 and SC61 (Boostage)
IMHO for the ultimate street turbo you should look into a 50trim, we pushed our mr2 to 22psi on pump gass and we did 26psi on pump gass with our dsm
another option is the gt28rs AKA disco potatoe, the gt28rs spools so fast on the 2.0 engine that alot of people dont like it...say full boost 19psi at 2400rpms anyways just figured i would give you some more options, if you look around outside honda-land you will see a majority of the dsm's, mr2's celica's, evo's are all realizing that the 50 trim compressor has a very impressive compressor map where its 78% efficent on a 2.0L motor at 29psi@9000rpms, the turbo actially dosnt hit its efficency range until 17psi....I would say stay away form the gt25
just giving options to be diffrent

Re: Torn between the SC34 and SC61 (hybrid0006)
If you need more top end punch for some reason, you can also look into an SC44, ... worked great for me.
Honestly on a stock motor I'd look into an SC50 or SC34... either would haul ***.
