Default Top end issues...

I posted this in the Tech forum as well, but I know the FI forum is always helpful and has tons of traffic so I thought I'd post it here as well...

I recently installed some Arias 9 to 1 compression pistons, InlinePro blockguard, new OEM headgasket, and a new Action Clutch into my '01 ITR motor. I'm basically running it N/A right now for break in purposes and while I await my new injectors and Hondata.
Everything is running well and after about 1000 babied miles on the new pistons and clutch I decided to make my 1st WOT redline run. It pulled pretty well, and VTEC seemed to activate normally. But at around 7500 RPM's it seems to kind of "hiccup" or slightly bog down. It wants to then go ahead and continue pulling to redline after that normally.

Any clue what the issue is? FWIW, the timing is retarded about 4 degrees if that would make any difference. I also have a fresh valve adjustment, and no check engine lights.
Thanks for any info or idea on what the issue may be.
Mark

With the change in compression, you're prolly running a tad rich. Also set your timing back to stock and see how it preforms.

I was thinking that may be a possibility. I'll put the timing back to stock and see if that changes anything. I may check the plugs as well, I believe they are almost brand new NGK 8's, but I'll double check.
Thanks.

Why are you running NGK 8's on an NA setup?

Too cold, go back to 6's

It was boosted before. Now it's slightly built, awaiting bigger injectors and Hondata.

I bet you are very rich. I'd also check your oil.

Cool, thanks.
The oil is full and has been changed recently as well. There is no black smoke coming out of the exhaust if thats any indication of not running rich. Assuming that is the issue, would it be bad to run a few PSI temporarily, around 4psi with a FMU setup(again just temporarily to continue the break in?)
Thanks

how much loss of power do you feel from dropping the compression and retarding timing from what the ITR was stock?

I swapped in the stock plugs, same issue up top, no change at all. Timing is still retarded though.
Is it still possibly just running real rich up top? Again, there is NO smoke at all either.
Thanks for all the info.
