TOO many SOHC turbo clutch choices...:frustrated:
I'm shopping for a new clutch, and there are a lot of options out there for me. Let me describe what I want out of this clutch:
-smooth engagement
-DAILY driven, to school, work, everywhere
-decent price
-hold up to 240whp, but for now it won't be making more than 200whp (at least for a year)
-no clutch chatter, slipping, etc.
I'm looking at the Exedy organic kit for $190 shipped. I can get the ACT HDSS kit for $292 shipped. I'm also looking at clutchmasters, action, clutchnet stage 2, and anything else out there that's reputable. I WANT TO DO THIS RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.
By the way I've searched everywhere and gotten too much misinformation and conflicting opinions, so let's hear some fresh ones.

i have ACT HD with Action disc
the ACT HD is STIFF as hell !!! i wouldn't recommend for daily drivers
and my combination is good..
but don't know why it's making a weired sound when i let off my clutch.. sounds like something is slipping
find Rocket, he is a expert in cluthes, he can get u cheap prices too

Not to say you're wrong but I think it's more like. Exedy uses Daiken parts... Daiken makes stock honda clutches. Something like that. I have an Exedy/Daiken clutch assembled by a local clutch shop

Exactly, and it isn't that bad (XTSS) either. What a wuss.

Same here, wouldn't hold 10 psi, POS!
I've been advised to go with the XTSS for next year, I just hope it will hold 300whp/250ish lbs of tq.

I have had a centerforce dual friction IT SLIPPED BAD!!!!
Two weeks later swapped it out for an ACT HD, it never has slipped after almost a year now and had almost no wear when I had it apart 1 weeks ago. The pedal is NOT STIFF!!! IMO it feels perfect, better than a stock civic clutch which feels way to light compared to other cars.

Hows the feel? I have a Centerforce stage 1 DFX clutch in a box waiting for my spare tranny to get rebuilt with an LSD and then change the clutch when I swap trannies.

The ACT XT is pretty stiff IMO. The HD feels perfect to me. With the 6 puck unsprung R6 disc it holds a lot of torque but doesn't kill your leg in traffic.
the psi at your intake manifold has nothing to do with how good a clutch is!!!!

I have an ACT HDSS on my y8 turbo sol. It isn't stiff at all. Might be a little more than stock but it definately isn't a workout.
KTeller8 got me mine for 315 shipped. Shoot him a PM.
