is a to4(T4) pretty big? Blown90hatch and DREALGSR...
I just bid for air research t04 turbo charger. The only thing I know about it is that it's a t4, is a .60 trim, and was supposedly never used. Is this too big or will be alright? Remember, my car would probably barely see the street....
Blown90hatch and dreal GSR...what's your guys' turbo? Same thing isn't it?

Ohhhhhhhh nosah, please don't ever make that mistake again. Garrett > Air Research, and just about any other mass turbine manufacturer. Garrett is the best.

TO4 is probably to big, you cant buy a turbo just because its for sale you have to choose by compressor map, whats your engine size, what does your head flow in CFM, what will the max RPM be and then plug them into an equation then you can choose a turbo. most straight TO4's are industrial use, does it have CHRA with oil and water fittings??? probably for a truck or something...

You are correct! Garret/Honeywell/Allied Signal/Air Research = the same damn thing!

AirResearch is the part of Garrett that makes turbochargers. It's more like saying "Hondas suck only buy Acuras" except not quite as stupid.

Well what kind of motor, setup, is this going on. One advantage you have with that turbo is the split inlet exh. housing. However if the turbo is too big for your setup then that all goes out the window. It also looks like its been used.

Most people bash Allied Signal and Air Research because those turbos come from factory cars.. so people buy them used and then they fail.. well guess what? Why do you think they'er selling their used turbo? Cuz it is failing.. needs a rebuild or atleast new seals. Garret=AS=AR all the same. Buy a brand new AR or AS and it will be just as reliable as a Garret.

Yes looks like it could have been used as a single on a v8, could be used, however most likely for a drag car 25psi +. Not beneficial on the street, IMO.

Paul...a T4 turbo is not too big. You can run it fine. I wouldnt use one that came off another car that has been used. Also, that flange is not a T4. That is way too big. I am running a 60-1. Basically a pissed off T4. Here are some pics:

SOME T4's are not to big for a Honda. The one in that picture is way to big, he will not be able to run that fine.

Sorry.. JDM GF has been hoggin' the time that I don't spend working on my limpin' hunk of junk! Anyway... The AR.60 that the seller is talking about is the Compressor side. That ex side looks to be about an AR.100 or so. Street Honda's should use an (HKS only) AR.36 or AR.40, Garrret AR.48, AR.50 or AR.58. Those housings with an O-trim blde will be just fine on our Hunda's! The AR.58 is better for heavy breathing mainly strip cars because there will be lots of lag.
I am using my smallest turbo right now.. HKS T04E/T3 AR.50 42T compressor mated to a 4 bolt AR.63 T3 ex housing and an HKS stage II blade. The 2.0 liter engine will be using the T300S(60-1) with the same T3 housing.
Back to the topic on hand.. As long as the ex housing isn't too big and the ex balde isn't a P-trim you will be OK. You can always purchase a smaller ex housing if the blade is an O-trim... HTH
