My d16z has been turboed for three months with not one problem. The other day I am driving and my car starts to sputter and I smell a strong gas smell. The check engine light goes on. Then I go get new gas thinking its bad gas. I turn the car on and its fixed. I drive on the highway for about two hours and I get to my friends. I usually let the car idle for a minute before I turn it off and it dies in about 20 sec. The next day I start to leave and it starts sputtering again. I turn it off and try again and it starts sputtering again. Wait about 10 min try again and the car is back to normal. Whats the deal? Any advice would be deaply appriciated!

 

Check for any fuel leaks, you could have a leak. The sputtering could have been from a sudden drop in fuel pressure and then the smell of fuel was because the leak. Also check you filter, it could be clogged.

 

i dont think it is a leak because i looked, maybe a clogged fuel filter but its new and it doesnt happen all the time

what size injectors? the afc is for what?

what code are you throwing?
