Default timing belt slips in boost on the ls

this is the second time this has happend to me. When I swapped out the 404 cams for the 402t cams into my ls. Drove it around safely for 2 days and then I was a little late to school so I was pushing it at only like half throttle and not banging gears. All of a sudden I hear the timing belt flapping around so i turn the car off and pulled over and saw that the timing belt has jumped. So i towed the car to my shop man and he fixed it. I had 4 bent valves and 2 of the cam holders broke in half. After i got the car back. I went driving around easly again to a car spot and then I saw the cops waiting on the corner so i left and pushed it to only 4k at like half throttle and then when i let off the throttle to cruize i heard the timing belt flapping again so i pulled over and saw that it has jumped again. I dont know why this is happening because the timing belt tensioner was really tight.
PLZZZZZ HELP ME FIGURE OUT WHATS GOING ON

How old is your timing belt? Maybe its stretched (old) and the tensioner is at the end of its travel.

Maybe you need a new tensioner?
Is the belt being tightened correctly? I always turn the engine at the crank untill the leading side of the beltis taught,then tighten the tensioner.Rotate the engine @ the crank again untill it gets looser then tightens up again. At this point loosen the tensioner and retighten to eventually work out the looser sections. Do this about 3 times. Always works for me....

You actually said the tbelt was "flapping around". So does that mean the belt is actualy coming off somewhere? If thats the case then you have some serious alignment problems with the pulleys and gears.

But if its just skipping a tooth then I agree with gen2integra2001. The problem lies in the tension of the belt. Either the tension is not set properly or the tensioner needs to be replaced. And always use a new OEM Honda belt unless your cam manufacturer recommends something special.

yea i only use honda belts. But the first time this happened the rubber part on the crank pulley was twisted from when i first pushed it. Butwhen i heard the flapping noise I turned the car off and pulled over and 1 cam was turned like 50* one way but the timing belt was still tight. So im thinking that it might be the timing belt is probuly a little streatched and get a new belt tensioner while im at it. but ill try changing the belt since i just looked at the last time i changed it was back in july of 2003. i hope that that solves my problem and i dont have ac or ps so those belts are gone.

check the cam gears mebbe they have worn teeth? doubtful, tho. possibly your tensioner bolt is stripped?

Mine never came completely off, but it jumped a few teeth and bent up some valves. I couldn't get it tensioned right, no matter how many times I went through the procedure. It turned out to be the belt. Apparently it was stretched, but not evenly. A new belt fixed me right up.

aight kool...well after class tomarrow imma go and pass by the shop and see how things are going on down there and see if i bent any valves..i hope not

ill get a new timing belt to and hope it fixes my problem and ill check back with yall bout it

ok i just got the car back from the shop and just gonna drive it slowly for a little bit. I cant afford for the belt to jump again. Thanks yall

Some people add extra tension by pulling up on the tensioner lever with a coat hanger or welding rod with the tensionr bolt loose then tighten the bolt while still pulling up on the lever.

Its possible your tensioner spring may be worn out or disconnected.

mmm maybe since i put this timing belt and tensioner back in dec of 2003 but im taking it a lil easy now but i dont see any cracks or anything bad about the belt it looks like brand new..but imma keep an eye on it and keep checking it

do u have both the inside and outside washer arouund the belt where it goes around the oil pump gear?
