Default Stretched timing belt cause misfire?

I went to put my car back together after all the issues ive been having and noticed that the belt had ALOT of play in it. I usualy run em a little on the tight side. Its got Brian Crower springs valves and retainers and Skunk2 Pro1 cams. It was basicly missing and breaking up in boost. I advanced the timing on the dizzy and the car came back to life and stopped missing. Im gonna get a new belt tomorrow, but was just wondering if this is the effect of the belt being stretched?

How sure are you of the correct belt placement? could you be off a tooth on the crank , and then adjusting the dizzy made up for it? Sounds more possible to me than a stretched belt....
why didn't you put a new belt on????

I've never seen a stretched timing belt. They rip apart before stretching, IMO.

I triple checked timing before i took it apart. it never jumped a tooth. I just relaized that it was prolly shorter cause i went from a .030" Cometic to a stock head gasket. Its just weird that advancing the timing made the car feel like it normaly used to. I got it to stop missing last night under boost with tuning, but it just wasnt making any power. I advanced the dizzy and it stopped missing and started making the normal power it used to, at least from what i could tell, it was at least spinning the tires rolling into it in 4th gear again.

ok, im consciously bringing this one back from the dead. im having issues myself stretching oem timing belts. they seem to last a few thousand miles then develop a lot of slack on the return between ex cam and crank. fortunately it wasnt causing a misfire but its concerning.
using itr cams and supertech 85lb springs, roughly 500hp.

anyone else get belt stretch/fatigue? whats your remedy?

Two things:
-Retension the timing belt. See if cams and crank are still aligned at TDC. If they are then your assumption is wrong. If the belt has stretched then use the tensioner to take up that slack.
-Those who run big cams or high rpm run the aftermarket tensioners on the exhaust side. Thats where you get the most belt slap.
