Default Which Tial Wastegate Size?

hallo,

i have searched, but found no info about the difference between the different tial wastegate sizes... i know that it has something to do with the amount of exhaust bypasses the turbine but is there any technical info on which i can calculate which size of wastegate i need?

maybe someone can give me an advice but in general i'am interested in the technical background. i plan on making 450 WHP on a B16 Engine.

Thanks
Malte.

most turbo kits that include a decent wastegate and not that crappy deltagate found on drag kits use the Tial 38mm Wastegate. Spark racing is having a clearance sale and i got mine for $190 shipped (including .5 bar spring).

There is no particular horsepower limit to a wastegate. There are a few things to take into account when picking your wastegate size.

A couple things. . .
Manifold Design (wastegate placement/angle)
Turbo Compressor Housing Size
The amount of boost you intend to run

A lot of the newer manifolds have 90 degree mounted flanges for the wastegate. If you have one of those manifolds, I wouldn't get anything smaller than a 38.

It only has to expel the excess air so that you don't continue to create more pressure. The more primariy flow your wastegate has in the manifold the less likely you are to need a larger sized wastegate.
