Tial Wastegate
Ok I got my Tial wastegate which is pretty much the last part on my turbo list minus some oil line fittings and boost pipes. I decided to disassemble it and check what spring is in the gate. The guy that sold it to me said it was never used but Im wondering if he just meant he never used it. It has some scratches on it that would indicate its either been used or tossed around or something. But when I opened it up the correct spring that he said was in there. 9psi Small green unit. But the orange part seems to maybe be messed up. Now I had another gate that I took apart that didnt look like this one does.
Here are the pictures.

It's been opened up before and part of the top hat was closed/tightened onto the diaphragm. What harm that will do I am unaware of. Mine had a small section pinched in that same why when I got it.
All you have to do is lift up the diaphram and pull the rubber skirt down, then drop the diaphram back down... the rubber skirt should seat into that groove around the base.
If the rubber skirt is torn it will not work properly, so I would inspect it pretty closely if I were you.

OK it seemed like it was stuck pretty good. But Ill give it a try to get it fixed. Its a 35mm gate so the spring is 0.65 9.43 Small Green where the 38mm would be only 7psi.
i took my tial 38mm wastegate apart as well just before i put it on the manifold.
it was brand new in the box and the rubber diaphram was pinched like that also. i carfully pulled it apart. there were no rips or holes in it. i carfully put it back togeather and it works fine.
i know tial makes good products but now that this issue has been noted on more than one occasion you gotta wonder how many guys are out there running their wastegates with the same problem?
