Tial BOV
well, i have a Tial BOV going on my car. My friend Phil has one on his car...and everytime he lets off before making anyboost, it won't blow off and you can hear his turbo back spin. He has a 550+whp 2.0l b16....and i'm just going to be having a 400whp daily driver. SO, should i be worried about things like this? I've heard that you have to make boost to blow the Tial off...or is his just adjustest too tightly. And is there any kind of adjustment??

Sounds to me like the vaccum lines aren't hooked up correctly or the screw is too tight. I never used a tiaL but on my blitz dual drive there was a 8mm nut on the top you could loosen and then you could adjust the screw to loosen/tighten the spring inside.

Yes or no question.

idont understand what your getting at ? a blow off valve shouldt really blow off unless its under boost.
i do see mine open though when not under boost, but it doesnt blow off unless under boost. Thats how blow off valves work if im cvorrect? doesnt make sense to blow off in vaccum does it?

listen.. you need to physically change the spring inside the BOV to a 7 psi rated TIAL BOV spring.. they offer 7 , 9 , and 11 psi BOV springs.. and i would bet hes got the 11 psi. that is unless hes boosting ovber 11 psi then teres a problem.
EDIT: i just read that he has over 500 whp.. i dont think its a problem with the spring.. could be a problem with the gate.. maybe how its hooked up.. not sure.

Re: (J337_UNIT)
my Tial flutters at low boost , but is silent when off boost, and smooth at high boost (20psi). I don't think you have to worry about compressor surge when part throttle off-boost driving. It's when you let off at WOT and it doesn't blow off, that will worrisome.
If it bothers you too much, get another bov like a 1g dsm. It'll blow off even off boost

dude, tial has probly the best BOV on the market.. i have one myself.. not yet installed, but i think then its the spring factor.. just get a 7 psi spring and call it a day.. you cant go wrong.. 7 psi means it will open FULLY at 7 psi.. it will flutter at anything less basically

and i really don't know what the hype is over this thing, i mean...sure the 50.5mm is big...but it's just a dump valve...and sounds kinda shitty.....
i just bought it cause i wanted to help a friend go direct with tial
kinda regret it...but, oh well...i'll get thorugh it

tial has not adjustment, except for the proper sring pressure. if you want a more function ove fashin bov, get the tial. if you want the bov blowing off even when not in boost get something else, which i believe gets really ******* annoying when daily driving

Re: (Ej6andslow)
That flutter is characteristic of the TiAL BOV. I am running .5bar on my MBC street and here the "flutter" whenever I come close to boost (<~5 In Hg). At full boost on this setting, the BOV opens completely and doesn't flutter. I believe someone described it as a "pissed off rattle snake." However, like some of the others have said, you don't necessarily worry about compressor surge unless it isn't opening at WOT. Other than that, I love my TiAL 50mm!! It isn't that annoying sneeze or high-pitched whistle. I used to like those BOV's until I saw Fast and the Furious.

Re: Tial BOV (Ej6andslow)
you need to run a dedicated vacuum line from the vacuum line, no Tees, nothing, just a big dedicated line to the top of the valve
