I don't have a problem with it.

I am running the SCI+ digital with Blaster SS coil

Most aftermarket ignition systems have a tendency to burn rotors. FYI, the stock ignition system will support up to 400hp.

i'm putting the msd in cause i got the sci box for free

The only difference I really noticed with the MSD ignition was better idle quality.

This latest time I hooked it up, I was running Denso Iridium plugs, and it totally didn't like those plugs, just started misfiring. Reinstalled my old Denso platinums, regapped to .030 and runs great.

Because on my current setup im pushing 375whp and 405 ft/lbs.

Ive seen sparks from stock setups fizzle on dynos with this amount of hp. Also you can widen your gaps producing a cleaner, even, more efficient burn.

No, there would be no reason to run a smaller gap. The other thing is to keep in mind is that just because a stock ignition can support a certain amount of power doesn't mean it's the best for that amount of horsepower.

I've also never seen a rotor melt from using an MSD box, and I've been running them for 12 years now.

Are you running an external coil?

The external coil is the main culprit behind rotor wear.

Yes, I've always used them (on my older cars that's all there was).

Now, having had my MSD hooked back up for a couple weeks, I have noticed better fuel consumption, even though I have been harder on the throttle lately. Freeway cruising was a couple MPG's better too.

not to mention you can automatically retard timing with nitrous or boost and have a "soft-touch" rev-limit, unlike the crap Honda provided.

well welcome me to the MSD crowd.. I just got a M6AL and I am currently trying to install it. Turns out I have the wrong Modi-Dist cap..( got the #8292 for a civic SI, but i need the 8293 for a GSR). Can anyone tell me if the Blaster 2 coil is better than the Blaster SS? Thanks. May need some help w/ the install if any of you are up to the task.(info wise)

On my car (non-Honda) I have a MSD 6a installed. The benefits I've noticed over a stock HEI ignition were improved fuel economy, starts within the first crank of the motor, and more dependable. I had the spark plug gap set to .040 with the stock HEI ignition but now I have the gap set to .055 and the engine idles much better.

i have an MSD 6A and a blaster ss external coil. used to have MSD plugs wires too but they were crap, using stock now.
lately i've been smelling burned plastic round the engine bay and i'm gonna get my rotor..i guess it's eating up my rotor. this started happening when the MSD plug wires failed.

oh i noticed that i had better throttle response after installing the MSD.

i mean i understand a better burn but that should result in more top end power? why did i buy this if i am not gonna see any power gains in the power band?

a better question: why did you buy something without knowing what the hell it does?

Here is my all msd setup: 6AL, blaster ss coil, msd cap, msd superconductors, and I use ngk BKR7E plugs gapped between .028 -.030

I originally installed it all when i was NA so i can't tell you the difference it makes between running stock igniton with boost compared to msd with boost but when it was NA I got better idle, better response, and I felt more torque on the bottom end with my butt dyno.

Well the better question was did i buy it..yeah and it is on...I was asking actuall owners where the saw the gains...as as a opposed to the hype or "word on the street" so thanks for wasting 1 minute of my time....

I had to modify my stock dizzy cap till my MSD cap comes in next week. It pulls really strong through the whole powerband... I am yet to push it to 100MPH+ causei just took it to get some lungh. SHould i open up the gap on the plugs? Their @ about 37.
